About me

Hello, I am Ganiyat, a psychological therapist/counsellor @ T.G.C. Low-Cost Counselling Service C.I.C.

Thank you for visiting and being brave to seek help. If you feel anxious or low because of overwhelming adverse life events and it appears you can't cope anymore, please get in touch with us; HELP IS AVAILABLE. I offer human-to-human connection in supporting my client's physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. I am a passionate Integrative Therapist/Counsellor. I provide a safe space for my clients, enabling them to express and explore their feelings and thoughts. I use a Trauma-Informed Approach (TIA), Person-Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic and Transpersonal techniques to assess and facilitate my client session. II offer Filial Therapy to parents and their children.

I tailor my approach to meet individual clients from diverse backgrounds, races and cultural needs because no two experiences are the same- This understanding influences the technique I use for each client's understanding of their condition and the severity of the presenting trauma. I do not advise or tell my clients what to do but facilitate their sessions, allowing them to discover how to solve their problems and work on their desired changes in their journey of self-discovery and self-recovery management.

I am passionate about my work and love interacting with people. I perceived being part of my client's positive life-changing experience and reaching out to the broader community as a privilege.

I believe in treating others as I will treat myself. My vision is to create an atmosphere of safety where anyone needing mental health support feels safe, heard, understood, supported, and empowered.

My mission is to provide a unique, quality therapeutic experience that empowers my clients through their journey of self-discovery & recovery. I do not judge or criticise my clients; I value and respect their right to self-governing (autonomy). Then, adapt my practice to ensure that it is client-centred. I practice a whole system approach that allows my clients to talk about anything regarding their past, present, or future that may be worrying or overwhelming in a safe and confidential environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced therapist. I offer face-to-face & online therapy. I have worked and currently work with people of diverse races, skin colour, and gender. I engage with children, young people, and adults of various backgrounds in a long or short therapeutic relationship. These range from age five to sixty with challenging behaviour, anxiety,  grief, depression, phobia, guilt, stress, loss, panic attacks, shame, eating disorder and relationship issues. I provide a safe space for my clients following the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) guidelines. I observe confidentiality, enabling my clients to explore and express their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment. I am passionate about my work, which allows me to demonstrate empathic understanding to my clients. Offering a non-judgemental service enables me to build rapport and appropriate therapeutic relationships with my clients.

I volunteer for Make a Difference At Sandies (MADAS) Charity organisation, which provides me access to a wide range of people with different presenting complex issues such as schizophrenia.

I have worked with children in various primary schools and preschool settings, engaging with children during play to enhance their learning plus promoting positive relationships with children and their primary caregivers, such as parents. The experiences currently serve as valuable tools for facilitating children's therapy sessions.

I qualified with the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) qualification Level 5.

I am an Online & Telephone Counselling Certified Counsellor.

I also undertake other pieces of training, such as Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Understanding Self-harm and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).

I am a qualified Early Years Practitioner with an Early Year and Childhood Education degree.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
