I also offer a consultancy service offering advice, supervision and training to agencies in order to support children adults and families in respect of any behavioural and emotional issues.
How can counselling and therapy help ?
Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling approach at its best is characterised by selecting different concepts and methods from a variety of approaches. This approach is creative by uniquely integrating and utilising them to tailor to the client’s needs.
One size does not fit all, we are all unique individuals, so a wealth of therapeutic interventions can be drawn on and used in order to support an individual. The aim of integrative psychotherapy is to facilitate wholeness, so that the quality of the person’s life and experiences are positively enhanced whilst maintaining an appropriate regard for each individual’s own personal limits and external constraints.
Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling can be supportive for any issue and individual experience.
Clients are made to feel welcome and safe within the counselling space, this way the client can be enabled to look at and work through their issues in safety and emotional security. there is adquate free parking outside the building.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified and experienced integrative psychotherapeutic child counsellor, adult therapist, hypnotherapist and emdr practitioner offering short and long term therapies with adults, teenagers and children.
I am a qualified supervisor and hold a supervision diploma in person centred therapy but work intergratively.
I am an accredited Member of:
UKCP (UK COUNCIL FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY)
GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register)
I am also a member of many other bodies that support my practice:
BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)
ESTD (European society for trauma and dissociation)
ISSTD (International Society For Trauma and Dissociation)
EMDR UK (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming)
TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group)
FPP (First person plural)
TACT (Therapy and Counselling Teesside)
I am fully committed to providing therapies and counselling in a safe and calm environment where confidentiality is fully respected. My initial consultation session will offer an opportunity for you to share your concerns and for the opportunity to assess which approach would be best suited to your needs. It takes courage and commitment to consider counselling therapy but it is well worth the investment. I work with individuals across all age groups.
I attend regular continued professional development enabling me to fully support my clients through what may be very challenging times for them and I have several regular supervisions a month in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, hypnotherapy and EMDR. Supervision is a statutory requirement to ensure that therapy is of the highest standard.
I am a qualified and accredited member of UKCP and am a member of MBACP, which means I have reached a recognised higher level of competence and experience. I am also a member of many organisations that cover and govern the practice of the skills that I am trained in. I practice a form of therapy where the client and their needs are the sole focus rather than trying to make one size/ technique fit all. I am able to ascertain and to explore with you the techniques that will suit an individual and at a pace and timing which is the most comfortable and beneficial for you.
During my counselling career I have gained an extensive knowledge and appreciation of a variety of issues that can affect everyday life. I have worked in schools with parents and children and also in Local Authorities, private practice with adults, children and families covering many areas including specialisms of attachment, trauma and dissociation and adoption.
“I work hard with all my clients in order to help them shift as quickly as possible towards their goal in the healing process. In particular, I like to encourage my clients to find their strengths to help them manage the challenges of life.”
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and therapeutic intervention where the therapist supports the client to positive change in the subconscious whilst the client is in a deeply relaxed state. Hypnosis usually lasts between 2 and 4 / 6 sessions and is a much shorter intervention than other therapies. The aim of the therapy is to help individuals find meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling and behaving.
Hypnotherapy can help unlock inner potential and promote personal development. Hypnotherapists will often combine hypnosis with appropriate counselling/ therapeutic techniques. This therapeutic intervention can address anxiety, phobias, habits, addictions, smoking, overeating, alcoholism, low self esteem, fear, pain etc
Hypnotherapy is a natural and safe way to help with many issues and circumstances that you want to change or improve.
Here are just some of the issues or problems that can be addressed with hypnosis:
Stress and Depression
Anxiety or OCD
Relaxation or Motivation
Confidence Building and Self Esteem
Public speaking or exam nerves
Anger and Sadness
Guilt or Loss
Insomnia and sleep issues
Unwanted habits such as nail biting
Wedding related stress and nerves
Ego State therapy
Fears and Phobias
I run regular groups for smoking cessation and weight loss, for between min three and a maximum of six people. This works out at a reduced cost to the individual and encourages peer support. Please contact me for further details.
