About me

Hi, my name is David and I am an experienced therapist offering a safe, non-judgmental space to work through whatever it is that is troubling you.

However big or small your problems may seem, you deserve to be listened to, and talking to a professional who is outside of your social and family circle can be an effective way of exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe and respectful environment.

I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist (MBACP) with specific training in humanistic counselling and CBT. I have worked as a therapist within the NHS and currently split my time between online private practice and volunteering as a counsellor at Mind. These roles have given me experience of working with a wide range of people, with many different issues. If you would like to learn more about me and how I work, please feel free to visit my website or get in touch to arrange a quick chat.

I have extensive experience of working with anxiety and depression, as well as  addiction, self-esteem and shame. I am 12-step literate and also maintain a daily mindfulness practice that I can use as part of our work if it is an area that you are interested in.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, and occur on a weekly basis. I offer short term and long term therapy work.

If you're considering therapy, or if you have any questions, please contact me and I'll be happy to arrange a quick phone call so that you can decide if you would like to proceed.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Approaches
  • Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling
  • Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling

To stay up to date with current research and provide the best service, I undertake regular short courses and personal development training, in line with BACP requirements.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
