About us

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over ten years of experience within children and adults mental health settings. I offer adult psychology sessions and specialise in male, children, young people, gender and sexual diversity as well as providing clinical supervision and consultation sessions for parents/schools to increase understanding of behaviours.

I work with a wide range of issues and problems including depression/low mood, anxiety, relational difficulties, stress, loss, bereavement/grief, OCD, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, neglect from adulthood/childhood, low self-esteem, life transitions and many other issues.

I am particularly interested in working with adults who are experiencing difficulties in depression, anxiety, relationship or self-esteem, LGBTQIA individuals with gender or sexual identity related issues and young people with attachment, emotional and behaviour issues, loss and bereavement.

Clients are encouraged to work online in light of current guidance. Face to face sessions are available if this is not possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an honours degree in Psychology and a Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology both from Glasgow Caledonian University. I have undertaken specialist training in Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy as well as additional skills training in play therapy for children and compassion focussed therapy with adults.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society the division of counselling psychology and psychology of sexualities. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and division of children, young people and families.

I have experience of providing therapy in a range of settings including schools, helplines, cancer support services, LGBTQIA+ and NHS. I have worked within children's mental health charities as an area manager setting up and overseeing school counselling services for children, parents and teachers whilst managing a team of counsellors.

I have undertaken research into young people's attitudes towards counselling as well and LGBTQIA+ clients experience of therapy.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
