About me

I am a registered, experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) qualified in 2001. I have practised as a Counselling Psychologist for over 20 years in the NHS, private practice and the voluntary sector. I offer both short and long term therapy, face to face, online and phone sessions.

Therapeutic Practice and Values

I believe it is important to make time and space for yourself when you feel distressed, to speak and to be heard in a safe, collaborative and confidential environment . I offer you a safe, non- judgmental and compassionate space that enables you to explore your experiences and feelings in a way that feels comfortable to you.

You may decide to have short term therapy to focus on a particular issue or be supported through a crisis or major life event. It might be that you wish to work in a more long term therapy with an area of continuing concern, such as repeated relationship patterns which can be accompanied by distress and a sense of helplessness.

As a Counselling Psychologist my training allows me to draw on several therapeutic schools of thought so that I can support you in a way that is most useful for you. My approach would be open and non judgmental, valuing your experience and perspective and enabling you to feel less overwhelmed and gain an understanding and acceptance of how you view the world. This understanding then supports you in making choices about how you wish to live. Psychotherapy can make possible a life lived with more freedom, ease and self-confidence.

In my work I draw on a number of different therapeutic schools of thought including;

Compassion Focused Therapy,  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,  Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Systemic (family and couples) Therapy. In addition my practice is informed by Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Somatic Therapy techniques.
