About me

I am a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with 23 years of experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in the NHS. In addition, I have almost a decade of experience supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students under the University Mentoring Organisation (UMO) as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor. I have been teaching and supervising Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in Training and Mental Health professionals in their work with children and young people.

In my years of clinical experience, I have worked with children and young people up to the age of 25 who have struggled with a wide variety of mental health difficulties, ranging from a mild manifestation to a complex presentation of symptoms. These include depression and anxiety disorders, self-harming, suicidal ideation, eating difficulties, somatisation, unexplained medical illness, aggressive behaviour, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation and developmental trauma. Furthermore, I have significant experience with adopted, neurodiverse and transgender children, as well as young people in need of prolonged hospital admission.

I offer short- and long-term individual psychotherapy, parent, and family work.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space in which I listen carefully to and work with children and young people, in order to support them to reflect and understand their emotional difficulties and behaviours. By being aware of the deeper issues that are causing their difficulties, young people can find better ways of dealing with them. During sessions, I use play and discourse, depending on age and emotional stage. In my work with parents who are concerned about their children, I offer a supportive environment in which they reflect on their relationship with their children and develop more effective ways of communicating with them.
