About me

Hello my name is Christine, and I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Counselling (CBT).

Most of my clients have told me that asking for help was daunting, but they all agree that 6 months later, they felt better, and were so glad they got in touch and wish they had contacted me before to start the change in their lives.

I am a mature, but young at heart lady, a great listener, easy to get on with, and have a great sense of humour too - and I would love to see you overcome your problems - whether you have been recently bereaved, have had a relationship breakdown or would like some couple counselling.  If you have been abused, or are depressed, suffering from anxiety or stressed out from work or personally, I would love to help you walk through this difficult period in your life.

Don’t be frightened or embarrassed, why not just call for a chat, to see if we get on well together. We can both then work out the best steps forward for you.

My job is to help you feel better, lets work together and let me try.

Two of the most exciting things about this therapy:

You can see and measure the changes in your life
You learn to become your own self-help therapist

Can you relate to any of the following statements?

Are you anxious or depressed?
Are you finding it hard to cope with normal everyday activities?
Are you feeling overwhelmed by life events and feeling trapped?
Does it seem there is no way out?
Are you at a crossroads in your life and need help with the next steps?
Do you need to be truly heard and valued?
Would you like to learn how to become your own therapist?

If so please give me a call for a chat so we can start the changes you want in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as an EMDR Practitioner in 2022 and am a registered member of EMDR UK and I am bound by their ethics and code of conduct.

I started my Professional Therapeutic Psychotherapist training in 2005 and qualified in 2011. I am an experienced professional therapist, having gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from the University of Wales. This course is endorsed and fully accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have been a Registered Accredited Member (MBACP) of the BACP since 2016 listed on the register for the BACP for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I am bound by their ethics and code of conduct.

I am a Cruse Counsellor I trained on the Awareness in Bereavement Care course where I gained a OCNW Certification and I have a special interest in working with clients who have suffered from Bereavement or Loss and Grief where a breakdown or end of a relationship has occurred either recently or in the distant past.

In 2013 - 2104 I trained on the Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People at Network Counselling and Training. I have a passion for working with Young People between the ages of 11 - 18, I have worked as a Youth leader for 4 years and I realise it is necessary to give them the opportunity to explore any issues in their lives before they become entrenched problems to enable them to fully embrace their future with a different prospective.

I am a qualified Couples Counsellor which gives me the ability to walk alongside couples who have or are currently experiencing relationship issues and will allow them to focus on the difficulties in their relationship in a safe environment with an experienced counsellor.

For 10 months in 2015 I worked for Affordable Talk where I provided the only Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for the business.

Since 2015 I have been working as a part time Telephone Counsellor for Marie Stopes International where I am providing counselling for crisis pregnancy.

I have gained significant significant experience over the last 4 years working across numerous locations in England and Wales and I have worked with Brunel Care, in Bristol working with carers for people who have Dementia, Bridge Counselling in Newport offering Generic Counselling and for Sesame Counselling in Newport, dealing with a variety of presenting conditions.

I worked for three years with Network Counselling, where I have offered Generic Counselling dealing with a wide range of presenting issues for both Adults and Youth aged between 11-18.

My previous career was very varied working in Sales and Marketing and Office Management. Over the last 20 years, I have run offices for two multinational corporations in demanding and pressurised roles. I supported teams across Europe, so I know what it is to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. I was made redundant and decided to change my career direction and so this is when I set up my own Therapeutic Counselling business.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
