About me
I have been a qualified Counsellor since 2014. I currently work from my fully insured private practice which is situated in Buntingford, Hertfordshire (SG9), which is easily accessible from the A10 and M11, however I am also able to offer home visits in Hertfordshire and hold a fully enhanced DBS, so I may also work with children in schools.
It is fair to say that my own traumatic experiences as a child led to a passion for making a difference and helping others. I knew early on in my career that I wished to work with individuals to support them feel empowered and enabled with taking control back over their lives, behaviour and responses to other people. However, I began to learn that in order for one to be able to do that; they first needed to understand their own sense of self, their early experiences, and the impact that this may have had on the way they relate to others and view themselves within their world.
I am an Integrative Counsellor who combines my training and knowledge (of various theoretical orientations) to provide a tailored therapeutic space that meets the individual needs of each client that comes for therapy.
It is within this that I use mediums from;
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Person-Centred/Humanistic Therapy
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
- Cognitive Therapy
- Gestalt Therapy
This diverse range enriches my therapeutic style and benefits those seeking to find understanding, solace, peace, and/or a more fruitful way of being/relating to the world or others.
I am skilled in talking therapy and play therapy. I also regularly use art and puppetry to support a clients expression of thoughts and feelings as well as other creative resources.
Whilst I work with clients of all ages my area of specialism is childhood trauma and working with individuals who may have experienced such; either in the present time (ie working with children who are impacted by their current/recent life experiences) or for those whom the trauma is historic, yet may continue to cause emotional distress/disturbance or have a negative impact within their life and relationships in the present time.
I also have a wealth of experience working with clients who may identify with the following issues;
- Sexual Abuse
- Domestic Abuse
- Neglect
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Mental Health Issues
- Phobias
- Anger issues
- Addiction
- Eating Disorders
- Self-Harm
- Suicidal Thoughts/Feelings
- Gang Affiliation
- Criminal/Antisocial Behaviour
Training, qualifications & experience
Prior to becoming a qualified counsellor my training and career had been largely focused within health and social care provisions. I have worked both in the Local Authority and private sector in roles including that of;
- Specialist Teacher
- Child Protection Practitioner
- Applied Behavioural Analysis Therapist
- Contact Manager
- Mental Health Worker
At this current time, as well as my own private practice I also work as a Supervisor at Childline - NSPCC.
I am qualified in IARTT Rewind technique, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and I hold a DipHE in Counselling Children and Adolescents.
I am passionate about CPD and regularly attend additional training/workshops to support my knowledge and professional capacity.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
