About me

www.woodwillowcounselling.com

Firstly, well done to you for reaching out. It takes strength to reach out and search for help.

For some people therapy might seem daunting or even a last resort and for others more comfortable with therapy they may know what to expect. I can help you to explore what's going on for you and listen in an empathetic way, without judgement.

Why talk to me?

When you feel you have the weight of the world on your shoulders or are feeling like it's hard to sort through your mind when it is full of worries, my aim is to help you understand you are not alone in your experience, and offer a safe space to speak and most importantly, to be heard.

My specialist areas include grief, loss, and bereavement. I have been a volunteer bereavement supporter with Cruse Bereavement charity since 2019 and am fully certified with the Foundation for Infant Loss both in infant loss and also life after the loss of a baby. I also have experience in other areas such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and work related stress. I am HUGELY passionate about maternal mental health and wellbeing and I am highly experienced in pre and postnatal depression and pregnant women who are suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum, alongside low mood and low self esteem / self confidence, and COVID 19 related anxieties.

I work two days a week in a hospice as an Adult Counsellor and also work as a peer supporter/mentor for the Pregnancy Sickness Support Charity providing with support and awareness for a much needed cause.

What to expect?

Because to me the relationship between client and counsellor is of the utmost importance, I offer a free 15 minute consultation over the phone where you can speak to me and see if we have a connection and if you feel I am a good fit for your needs and we can discuss the benefits of the different styles of therapy I offer.

If you choose to book in with me I will send you a copy of my electronic contract and we can go through this together in our first session so you feel entirely comfortable and at ease and we both understand how to best work with each other and can answer any questions you might have

I have a lovely, private home based therapy space in Hockley, Essex SS5. I also work both online and via telephone so you are able to choose the best type of therapy that suits your needs and that brings you most comfort.

How long does therapy last?

This is up to you. Initially I recommend working together for 6 sessions and we can review this, should you feel you require longer then that is ok too, we will establish and agree this together. My door remains open should you need further support down the line. The therapy I offer is not a prediction or prescription remedy, you are able to choose what is best for you.

Previous Experience

I started my counselling training in 2015, undertaking 100 hours in placement with the national charity Cruse Bereavement Care providing support on both a one to one basis and telephone based therapy for bereaved individuals. I have remained a volunteer to this day.

I also work for the Pregnancy Sickness Support Charity providing mentorship for women who are suffering from debilitating nausea and vomiting in pregnancy caused by Hyperemesis Gravidarum something I too have experienced, therefore it is a passion of mine to assist in this area.

My history also includes time working with clients who have experienced anxiety, depression, high sensitivity, relationship issues, neurological diversity or may wish to explore their life path or spirituality or childhood issues further in a safe environment free from judgement or opinion.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
