About me

Hi, my name is Bev

I am a Qualified Person-Centred Therapeutic Counsellor,  registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. MBACP 395488.

Making the decision and taking the first step to seek counselling may feel overwhelming, but regular sessions with a trained Counsellor can help you gain insights and fresh perspectives about what is troubling you.

I offer non-judgemental, confidential support within the therapeutic process. This can help you to develop your own coping skills, allowing you to break negative patterns of behaviour.

There are times in our lives when we may encounter difficulties and challenges, this can lead to anxiety and can be extremely overwhelming. We may feel stuck or find ourselves struggling with our experiences, whether that be the past or present. Anxiety can be very debilitating and a lonely place to be.

You don’t need to cope with anxiety or depression alone. I offer a safe place where you can be heard without judgement or expectation. I understand It can be hard to put into words what you are feeling, but with the right support I can help you explore your emotions to make positive changes going forwards.

Whether you need to unlock and work through deep-seated, long standing issues which may have been hidden for years, or to look at a current personal problem and to understand and define the options that are necessary for you to get on with your life.

People contact a Counsellor for many different reasons. They may be struggling with emotional issues such as anxiety or depression, or want to pursue personal growth.

Some examples of presenting issues are;

Having anxiety and depression

Coming to terms with losses such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy.

Unable to make or sustain relationships.

Emotional detachment

Professional stress and workplace anxieties.

Difficulties with partners, friends or family

Historical issues

Feeling low, lacking self-esteem, confidence or having feelings of being stuck emotionally.

Destructive patterns of behaviour with alcohol, drugs, food, money, self-harming. suicidal thoughts.

If you are experiencing difficulties such as these, you may find counselling helpful.

I can provide long or short term counselling and offer sessions either in person (face to face, ) remotely online or by telephone. My office is based at Empire House Dewsbury.

My goal is to empower you to grow in the ways most important to you. I appreciate how difficult it might feel to find the right counsellor, so If you feel I might be the right person to work with you, then you are very welcome to contact me for a twenty-minute free phone consultation to discuss what you are struggling with and how we might work together

I also offer low cost counselling sessions for people on benefits, low income families (when available) please do enquire.

I have an up to date Advanced DBS check.

I have professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and I am also a Member of British association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
