About me

I understand that considering therapy can be a daunting task.

As your therapist, you can expect a warm, caring and professional service, based on extensive and broad experience. Developing a safe, trustworthy and honest working relationship are key aspects of my approach.

I offer both short-term, focused work - addressing a specific issue over a defined number of sessions - and more in-depth work to support the development of insight, foster change and scaffold the development of new and richer ways of being.

I have specialisms in working with individuals who have experienced trauma - eg accidents, PTSD, bereavements, childhood traumas - and in working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, loneliness, self-harm, eating-disorders and OCD. I regularly work with individuals and couples who have had or who are experiencing relationship difficulties as well as with individuals who feel that they have ‘lost their way’ in life and who are searching for deeper meaning or connection with others.

I work with individuals of all ages - children, adolescents and adults - and with couples. I have worked in many different areas and am sensitive to difference and to each persons uniqueness.

Working together

Together, within a non-judgemental and supportive relationship we can work at your pace to explore, understand and process your experiences. I am aware that finding someone with whom one feels comfortable working with is an important first step and I offer an initial telephone or video call with no charge or obligation, so that it is possible for you to share details about what you are looking for and so that you may ask any questions you have about me and my approach.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my first training at the Institute for Clinical Hypnosis in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2003, following up with an Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in 2004

In 2004, I also completed a foundation certificate in Group Analytic Psychotherapy from the Institute of Group Analysis in London.

Between 2003 - 2006, I completed a BA (Hons) Philosophy, at Heythrop College, University of London.

Between 2006-2010, I completed my MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education. Here, I also completed a Diploma in the Therapeutic use of the Arts (2007), a Certificate in Creative Group Work (2008) and a Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counseling with Adolescents (2009).

Between 2005-2011 I worked as a psychotherapist and as a ‘Team Leader’ - co-ordinating an in-school therapeutic team - for a London based Charity.

Between 2012-2016 I worked as the Lead Clinician in a 40 bed adult male forensic unit that specialized in working with individuals with personality disorders.

Between 2016/17-2023 I worked within the NHS as an Arts Psychotherapist and as a Clinical Lead within a specialist child service - leading of the provision of therapy, provision of training and the supervision of staff from a range of disciplines.

I have maintained a private practice, primarily working with adults and older adolescents, since 2008 and am registered with several professional bodies - HCPC, UKCP, BAAT - as well as having full professional insurance.

Finally, I have attended regular additional trainings and conferences to ensure that I am up-to-date with my practice and with advances in the field of psychotherapy.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
