About me

Hi, I'm Anne. I am a fully qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor, integrating different models of counselling to meet each individual needs. I work in private practice supporting children and young people aged 8-18 years. I offer in-person counselling and I am MBACP registered.

I’m passionate about supporting clients to reach their full potential, to overcome the challenges they face and to find balance in their lives. My approach is relaxed, friendly, informal and child led. My work is tailored to suit each client’s individual needs whether they need a space to talk, play or use creative tools to help explore their thoughts and feelings.

I approach the sessions with warmth, empathy and a non-judgemental manner to help the child or young person feel comfortable, understood and supported as they begin to make sense of their world.

I have experience supporting children and young people in primary and secondary school settings, and in counselling organisations; supporting children to help reduce the impact of trauma, bereavement, ADHD, autism, self-esteem, confidence issues, body image, school related issues, identity, anxiety, children in care system, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse/behaviours and domestic abuse. There is a more exhausted list on my website.

I use various interventions to help support clients to comfortably express themselves by encouraging clients to make their own choices and decisions in therapy. Each client works differently and I am guided by them therefore making the work unique. It's important to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, which in turn can help your child or young person to share their experiences.

I offer therapy in North Shields (£50).

Read more on my website (www.coloursoflifecounselling.co.uk) about getting started or contact my profile.

Many Thanks.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
