About me
Hi, I’m Anne.
I offer a warm, calm and child-led counselling space for children and young people aged 8–24 in North Shields.
If your child is struggling, you don’t have to face it alone — support is available.
I’m a fully qualified, MBACP-registered counsellor offering in-person counselling. I work with children, teens and young adults, and welcome both parent enquiries and self-referrals.
I understand that talking isn’t always easy — especially for younger children. Sessions are shaped around what feels most comfortable. Some young people like to talk, while others prefer to play, draw or use creative activities to express how they’re feeling. There is no pressure, and everything happens at their pace. There is no right or wrong way to be in counselling.
I work in a friendly, relaxed and non-judgemental way, helping children and young people feel safe enough to be themselves. Feeling safe and supported is central to my work, as this can help young people begin to make sense of their thoughts and feelings.
Every child’s journey is unique, and sessions are always shaped around their individual needs. I work with children and young people who may be struggling with mental or emotional difficulties. with feelings such as anxiety, depression, low confidence, self-esteem issues, school-related concerns, bereavement or loss, trauma, ADHD and autism, identity and body image concerns, and challenges at home or within the care system. A fuller list is available on my website.
Counselling can help to:
• feel calmer and more settled
• understand thoughts and feelings
• build confidence and resilience
• find gentle ways to cope
Sessions take place in person in North Shields and are tailored to each young person.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
