Dr Annahita Nezami DPsych, MSc, BSc, HCPC Registered Psychologist
Are you feeling sad, experiencing anxiety or depression? Perhaps you are in a relationship that is causing you distress or you are experiencing stress related to work? I am here to listen and work with you toward making sense of your problems and finding some peace.
We live in a fast-paced world and the journey of life is not always smooth, it can be filled with unexpected bumps, meanders, crossroads and dead-ends. Many of us can relate to facing challenges that might arise from trying to live an authentic life, forming meaningful relationships, learning to cope with loss, endings, new beginnings and finding our purpose. Sometimes these challenges are exacerbated because of abuse, trauma and injustice that we might encounter in the world, as well as destructive patterns of thinking, attachment styles or behaviours that we form in early life.
I am a registered psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have over 13 years experience of working in private and NHS mental health organisations. I am trained to Doctoral level in Psychodynamic theory and principles, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy(CBT), Mindfulness and Schema Therapy. My specialist areas of interest include depression, trauma, borderline personality disorder, emotional and psychological abuse, and relationships.
I have completed the intensive Dialectical Behaviour training (DBT) with British Isles which means i am trained to work with people who have experienced trauma or abuse and find it difficult to balance their emotions. I use NICE guidelines and evidence based decision making. My extensive professional experience allows me to draw from various psychological theories and models during therapy and create individual therapy plans. On a personal note, I have also lived a colourful and at times challenging life and overcome personal challenges which allows me to be empathetic and grounded in my approach.
Knowing Who To Contact
Knowing who to contact and what type of support you need must be a daunting process. There are so many various types of professionals who provide counselling and therapy promising the same thing, for example counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists. The Counselling Directory provides more information about each of these. In a similar way to getting expert advice in any other area of your life, I believe it is important to find someone with good training and experience, and perhaps equally important is to find someone you feel comfortable talking to. My advice is, filter out a few people who are credible and have the required expertise, make a few initial calls, and then, if and when you are ready, choose the person you are instinctively drawn to.
The first step is to call or email me, we will make a 30 minute free telephone consultation. Thereafter, and if you are happy to continue, we will set up our first therapy appointment. During this 50 minute session, you will get the opportunity to meet with me, ask me questions and we can discuss your needs and how we can work together.
If you are happy to continue we will arrange weekly or fortnightly sessions to meet at a time that is convenient for you. During the first few sessions we will create a therapy plan, which will give you an idea of how long we will work together. These sessions are yours to release your worries and talk to me about issues that are troubling you. Together, we will work through your worries and help you on your journey to finding balance and peace.
I am a Registered and Accredited member of the HCPC and a graduate member of the BPS. This means i must adhere to the professional code of ethics.
Please do email or call me to arrange a consultation.
