About me

Given the right conditions we all have the capacity for self-growth.

Welcome to Aneta Counselling & Psychotherapy

I am a qualified Adult, Children and Young People’s Counsellor offering a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to talk about your issues and concerns. My role as a therapist is to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others and achieve positive changes in your life through the counselling process.

I provide psychotherapy and counselling in both languages: English and Polish.

My approach

At the core of my therapy is a person-centred approach. I refer to those in therapy as clients and not patients - therapist and client are seen as equal partners. The client is an expert on themselves and my role is to enable the client to find the answers within themselves.

During the therapy, the client has full autonomy and is in charge of what they want to address and where they want to progress in therapy.

As a therapist, I will offer you empathic understanding, unconditional positive regard and congruence.

My aim is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever is on your mind and build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship.

Everyone’s experience is different, and with that, each of us has different needs and expectations.

Each of us is unique but we all have one thing in common: we want to be seen, heard, understood and accepted for who we are and the way we are. This is what I will offer you in the therapy room.

During the therapy I will enable you to find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with problems. I will also help you to understand your feelings better, increase self-awareness, help you to identify triggers or understand relationships – it will all depend on what it is that you would like to address in therapy.

As a BACP registered member (MBACP), I attend regular supervision and undertake continuous professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I offer a free 20 min online or telephone consultation for all clients.

During the meeting we can briefly explore why you are seeking counselling and what your expectations are from the therapy.  I will also explain how the therapy process works and you will also have the opportunity to ask questions you may have around the therapy.

This will enable us to decide if we can work together and if I am the right person for you for what you require. If I am the right fit for you, from there we can decide how we can work together, whether we agree to short/long term, fixed number of sessions or be open-ended.
