About me

Hello, I am Amy.

I work as part of the Ivy Light Therapy team as a qualified Counsellor and Therapist. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am an integrative therapist which means I adapt my style of therapy dependent on your needs and how you prefer to work, I do not expect you to adapt yourself to my way of working.

I provide short-term and long-term therapy to adults and young people (aged 11- 18).

I offer sessions face to face, online and over the phone.

I have extensive experience working with young people, counselling young people with issues ranging from low mood and anxiety, self-harm (including addiction to self-harm), to body image concerns, social media affects, friendship issues, attachment styles, changes in home life, and academic/school related issues.

I have experienced working with adults and providing therapy to adults with issued ranging from anxiety, low self-esteem, some trauma and relationship issues.

As a teenager I never had access to a counsellor, nor did I have much of an understanding about the process of counselling. I felt like I had to deal with all my problems alone and not talk to anyone. This was unhelpful, and I wish I had the chance to talk to someone about how I was feeling at the time, I felt unheard. Now, I believe it is important that no matter how you feel, you have the opportunity to talk to someone, because even the feeling of having someone listen to you can make all the difference.

In my practice, I am committed to making sure the therapeutic journey is authentic and collaborative process for the individual, with your preferences at the centre of the journey.

I am proud to work for Ivy Light Therapy as it has been created to provide a modern and relatable service, which places its clients at the heart of the process.

Alongside working for Ivy Light Therapy, I also work as a children and adolescence therapist at Base51 in Nottingham.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
