About me
Hello, I am Amy.
I work as part of the Ivy Light Therapy team as a qualified Counsellor and Therapist. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am an integrative therapist which means I adapt my style of therapy dependent on your needs, pace and how you prefer to work. I provide short-term and long-term therapy to adults and young people (aged 11- 18).
In my practice, I am committed to making sure the therapeutic journey is an authentic and collaborative process for the individual, with your preferences at the centre of the journey. Sometimes, expressing thoughts and feeling can be difficult or we just simply 'do not know' how we are feeling, together we can figure that out. Therapy is not just talking, it a process of understanding yourself and your needs.
I have extensive experience working with young people and adults. Throughout my 4 years of working as a therapist, I commonly work with issues ranging from low mood and anxiety, self-harm (including addiction to self-harm), to body image concerns, social media affects, friendship issues, relationship issues, attachment styles, changes in home life, academic/school/work related issues, understanding autism and ADHD and anything else you may want to bring to the session.
I offer sessions face to face, online and over the phone.
Often, counselling can feel like a daunting process, and we can often feel as though we have to deal with all of our problems or day-to-day issues alone which can be unhelpful. By providing a space to talk about how we are feeling, regardless of whether you know or not, It can make us feel heard. I believe it is important that no matter how you feel, you have the opportunity to talk and be heard.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
