About me

The search for a counsellor can feel overwhelming and it can be difficult to know where to start. I believe that successful counselling is largely determined by the rapport between the client and counsellor. If you would like to message me, we can arrange an initial consultation to discuss your reasons for thinking about counselling, what you hope to achieve and to see how well we are suited to working together.

I see every client as a unique individual with a story I will never have heard before. We will work together to explore what is on your mind and to gain insight into what may be causing or contributing to problems affecting your life. I will help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships with others.
I have experienced the power of counselling in my own life and am motivated by the conviction that everyone has the capacity within them for growth and change. I offer a confidential, supportive and ethical space to empower you to achieve this too so you are able to understand your past and move forwards with your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I abide by the ethical framework of the BACP, which means I am committed to continual professional development and regular supervision to ensure I can offer excellence in my practice.

I am trained to work both short and long term and during an initial consultation, we would discuss what you feel would be most appropriate and helpful.

I have extensive experience of working for a mental health charity, a charity supporting young people in care and also in private practice.

I have worked with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, self-harm, suicidal ideation, fractured relationships, sexual abuse, bullying, bereavement and loss.

I have extensive experience in couples counselling. My aim is to facilitate change and bring about a resolution by helping both individuals communicate more effectively and reach their own conclusions under professional guidance.

I have a degree in Modern Languages and Marketing. Having worked and lived in many different countries, I have wide experience of different cultures, lifestyles, languages and people. Consequently, I have a genuine interest and understanding of people from all walks of life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
