About me

Hello, I'm Alison - welcome!

As a fully qualified and registered counsellor, I offer a gentle, warm, confidential and supportive environment in which I hope you will be able to feel comfortable to be yourself, and not worry about what you say or how you say it. I would like to reassure you I am here to listen to YOU and whatever you decide you want to talk about or share with me. Nothing is off limits.

How Can I Help You?

As an experienced counsellor, my aim is to build a safe and trusting relationship, where you can be open and honest about how you feel and talk to me about your struggles. I will listen to you, without judgment, but with empathy and a genuine desire to understand the difficulties you are experiencing right now (through your eyes).  Together we can explore these issues, which often leads to a deeper understanding and possible root causes. Counselling can enable you to see different perspectives which can help you to gain clarity and control of your problems or unhelpful behaviour patterns, so you can make positive changes to enhance and improve your life, relationships and overall wellbeing.

Are you suffering with low self-esteem, anxiety or depression and need help and support to get you back on track? Are you struggling with communication difficulties in your family relationships? Is work and/or life becoming stressful and unmanageable and you don't know which way to turn? Perhaps you are at a crossroads, confused and finding it difficult to make any decisions. Are you struggling with any addictions or disorders such as alcohol dependency, drugs, gambling or eating disorders? Have you had a loss or bereavement, or are you suffering with any type of trauma, domestic abuse, sexual assault or abusive/controlling relationship? Are you suffering with self-harm but you don't know how to stop it or who to talk to or what support you may need?

Types of Counselling I offer

Counselling sessions can be in person, online or by telephone, whatever you prefer. I also offer outdoor therapy (walk and talk), and/or a blend of any of these approaches - it's your choice.

What next?

I offer a no charge initial telephone appointment, so you can feel free to ask me any questions you may have, before deciding whether you would like to go ahead.

I look forward to meeting you.

Alison

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
