About me

Challenging transitions, difficulties in forming or maintaining relationships of any kind, anxiety, depression or feeling isolated-these are only a few of the experiences people come to me with.

I offer a warm, personable and creative approach to counselling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples on a short-term or long-term basis.

Whether it is personal growth, long-standing difficulties or a specific short-term goal you want to work on, we can explore the options and arrangement that will work for you.

About the therapy process

It is a big step to come for counselling or therapy - it is often the most difficult part of the process to make this decision. You may have no idea where to begin, what to expect or what may be going on for you, or you might have quite a clear sense of what you are looking for or even have previous experiences of therapy. Any place is a good place to start from, and your questions, doubts or reservations are very welcome.

I would like to invite you for an initial consultation without further commitment, in which we can discuss your reasons for coming, what you are looking for and get to know each other a little. This will help both of us decide if and how we want to work together and for you to decide whether therapy in general and with me in particular is what you want to commit to at this time in your life.

About my approach

The therapy I offer will be slightly different with each person; you will get me, responding to you, rather than a fixed school of thought or technique. However, my main training background is in Gestalt therapy, which is a relational approach that focuses mainly on here-and-now experiences. You can read a bit more about this approach on my website (link above).

We will be thinking and working creatively together, to find new solutions, different ways of being and new awareness in a way that feels both challenging and supportive for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (PGDip from Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University) with a BSc in Psychology and I have been practicing psychotherapeutic counselling for over six years with adults both in my private practice and for the NHS (IAPT). I also have additional training in Systemic Constellations for Teams and Systemic Work with Couples.

Apart from working with adults of all ages, I also have several years previous experience of working with children and teenagers in various settings and have worked as a counsellor with young adults at the beginning/end of their University career, in particular around issues such as anxiety, living abroad or away, developing identity and self-confidence, and forming different kinds of relationships with family and friends.

Previous to my training as a psychotherapist, I have worked in HR, as a career coach and as business owner running creative workshops for children and adults in groups, and as a Team Leader for trainee Counsellors in the NHS (IAPT service).

Separately from my work as a therapist, I work as a coach for startups and their leaders and run workshops for teams who want to understand and change their ways of working and business culture.
