About me

Hello,  after working for over sixteen years as a counsellor, I’ve gained a lot of experience;  this comes from working with young people (11+), adults & relationships and, being an older counsellor, means I bring a lot of life experience too but, as each of my clients are unique, I don’t try to provide a one size fits all service.

I hope to help you, by ensuring you gain a balanced viewpoint of you and / or your situation.  Together, we can explore all your options (and maybe the consequences too) but whatever you decide, the choices will always be yours.

What do I do - I am an accredited counsellor who enjoys working with young people (11+), individuals, couples, relationships and I also like to work with groups both as a counsellor and as a supervisor.

Relationship counselling - it’s standard practice to have one session with you together and then one session with each of you on your own and then a fourth session with you,  back as a couple, and ongoing, if appropriate.  Useful if you want to improve, reconcile or separate in a more (child) friendly way.

Where:  I work nationwide, by offering my services online or via telephone, both counselling & supervision, etc.  I also offer some face to face appointments in Runcorn.

How do I do it? - I am an integrative counsellor. Integrative, which in my case, means using a mix of several counselling theories, depending on your needs.

This means I can work with you on issues from the past, present or fears for the future. I believe the more therapeutic tools I have, the more options this gives me, when working with you.

Additional Training:  I also have qualifications in and experience working with NLP,  Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness and I am a Rewind Trauma Therapist.

All this training and experience means I have the flexibility to tailor my service to you, as an individual, couple or young person, supervisee or organisation, to better meet your needs.

Some reasons counselling might be useful: It can be difficult to make the decision to work on things that are bothering you and I'd like to assure you I have experience of  working on issues from anxiety, bereavement, depression to low self esteem and trauma.  If you have a dilemma or a difficult decision to make, I won't tell you what to do but I will help you see all the options so you can make an informed choice.  If you have had a recent loss – this isn’t always a death, but it’s an unwanted ending of some kind, I can help too.

Everyone is welcome and no problem is too small.

More information below:

Where do I do this?  When Covid restrictions permit, I offer my physical, face to face, in person, counselling service in Runcorn, in a dedicated, comfortable room with two armchairs and a two seater sofa (please note - this is up a flight of stairs).

I am located five miles from Junction 11 or 12 of the M56.  Within a mile of Runcorn East Railway Station and local bus routes. My location is anonymous and your confidentiality assured.

My dedicated counselling room in Runcorn, for which there is ample on street parking is, please note, up one flight of stairs - if mobility is an issue for you, I can offer you either an alternative venue or telephone or online counselling options.

My telephone counselling and online counselling service is available to you wherever you live in the UK.

Whilst mostly I offer daytime appointments, I sometimes have a few tea time and early morning or evening appointments too (subject to availability).

I have first come, first served policy which means payment will have to be made, when booking, to confirm the appointment.

Counselling Options Offered
I offer several counselling options, that includes face-to-face counselling (Covid permitting), telephone counselling, online counselling (I prefer zoom as I’m paying for their service), instant messenger or email counselling, Single Session Therapy and I also offer Rewind Trauma Therapy.

Single Session Therapy (SST) is for anyone who has one specific issue, dilemma or goal that they might be time sensitive about - not useful for addictions, abuse or trauma.

I am happy to answer any queries you have via phone or email, no obligation

How Many Sessions are Needed?
For most clients, between two and eight sessions are enough for real progress to be made on whatever the issue is for them.  Longer term counselling can be offered when appropriate.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Relationship counselling doesn't depend on you being married, living together, same sex, opposite sex, transgender, cisgender or transsexual - if you are in any kind of relationship (including a friendship) that has problems - this service is for you.

Finally, consider this, counselling can often take just weeks not months.  It can be done in stages - stop when it feels enough and resume when you feel ready - you are in charge!

I really hope to see you soon.
