About me
Hello and welcome - if you are looking for support for yourself, your teenager, your relationship or your business and you want to talk in confidence to someone who will listen and support you, then I am here to help you.
If you are looking for a way forward, if you are just not sure what to do next or which way to turn – my service could be just for you.
I’m offering you a reflective space in which you will be accepted for who you are – a space in which you’re not judged but supported to better understand you, to explore how you got here and with choosing your next steps
There are times in life when we all might benefit from a compassionate space so whatever brings you to counselling, however we meet, it will always be my aim to offer you, a warm, supportive, safe space, in which to explore the issues or problems that have prompted your search today.
How will I work with you? I’ll always listen but, especially in our first session, when we are trying to get to know each other, I’m very likely to ask you questions, to clarify something, or to explore something a little more. It’s important that you feel comfortable too so I encourage you to ask me questions and to be as open as you can be in our sessions.
We are likely to work together in a fluid way, depending on what you need from that particular session - ie to be heard, to respond to the challenges you feel deeply at this time or to be more solution focused to be able to respond in the way you need to.
Together, collaboratively, we will explore your situation and all your options (and maybe the consequences too) but whatever solutions you decide upon, the choice is always yours.
As an older counsellor, I bring a vast range of of life experience, which means I am more likely to relate to how you feel or how you might have experienced loss – in whatever form this comes in. I’m also caring, with a good recollection of how difficult youth can be, plus I have a great sense of humour. I never try to provide a one size fits all counselling service.
I can offer you a one-off session or short or long-term therapy. I'll aim to off you flexible ways - in person in WA7, online via Zoom or by telephone, or a mix of these, to suit you, between Monday and Thursday.
I am LGBTQ and Neurodivergent friendly. ADHD, AuHD & Autistic self-diagnosis welcome.
What do I do? - As an accredited Counsellor, I know our work isn’t about fixing you, it’s about helping you to discover your own strengths and finding your path to living a more fulfilling life, for you.
I really enjoy working with my clients - be they be young people (please note I work with 11+), individual adults or those in relationships and I also like to work with groups as a counsellor or as a supervisor or facilitator.
How do I do it? - I am an integrative Counsellor, which in my case, means I can use a mix of several counselling theories, depending on your needs - Systemic, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis (TA), to name a few but mostly I will listen to you as you are the expert on you and you will know (maybe unconsciously) what you need most.
Where do I do it? Whether you are looking for counselling or supervision, I can work face to face with you in Runcorn, Cheshire (please note my dedicated counselling room is upstairs) and / or nationwide, if you prefer online (Zoom is my preference as I’m paying for Zoom Professional) or telephone.
Individual Counselling (Adults) - I am happy to work with you on anything that is troubling you. Whilst I have a variety of therapeutic options for how we might proceed – we will start by being comfortable in a compassion, warm space as we explore, whatever has brought you to therapy Sometimes, just talking and feeling heard, in a safe, supportive space, can be enough but when it’s not as an integrative Counsellor, I have a lot of therapeutic tools with which we can work on issues from the past, what’s happening now or any fears you might have about the future.
Relationship Counselling / Couples Counselling - Whether you are having little niggles, awful rows or considering leaving the relationship, counselling can help. Improving your communication will help, whether you decide to reconnect, reconcile or leave.
Counselling can be especially useful to relationships if, as well as improving your communication, you can develop better negotiation skills with each other, if you can see and appreciating the other’s viewpoint, rather than assuming they are being mean (even if you don’t agree with them!). This allows you more options to reconnect or reconcile or even work on separating / ending the relationship, in a more (child) friendly way.
How will I do it? I work systemically with you so, its most helpful / standard practice, to have one session with you both (together), then one session with each of you on your own and then a fourth session with you, back as a couple, and then ongoing sessions, unless it’s not safe to proceed. This might be due to DA, DV, drugs and / or alcohol issues.
Young People 11+ / Teen’s counselling - I have a one-hour assessment process. To be honest, most of the assessment will be spent relaxing and getting to know one another as much as gathering some information about why they are here and what they want. Then, depending on their requirements, we might meet online or in person for 30 minutes or an hour - their choice. Actually, my last question in the assessment is - would you like to do this again - yes, no or not sure - if not sure we'll have another session and see and if no - then we don't - young people can have so little power or choices and they can certainly decide this - their decision is final.
Additional Training: Neurodiversity is an area of interest to me, as well as my having lived experience of this. I have had focused training in this area and, whilst I don’t claim to be an expert, I feel I am neurodivergent friendly and I am just as happy when working with clients whether they are neurotypical or neurodivergent (Autistic Spectrum and/or ADHD, diagnosed or undiagnosed).
I also work with couples / relationships where one or both are either neurotypical or neurodivergent.
Employers / EAPs / Insurance Companies – I am happy to work with businesses and invoice for payment but please note my payment terms (see below). However, I offer my clients confidentiality which means if, at any point, a report is requested, the report will be written with the knowledge and consent of the client or one cannot be done.
My Experience: In private practice since 2006 working with clients, local businesses and EAPs, I also worked for Relate as couples / relationship counsellor from 2011 so I gained experience working with all types of relationship issues and difficulties as well as counselling young people, for three years, in a secondary school - so I have some insights into school issues.
I have past experience of being a carer, marriage, divorce and different types of loss and bereavement including, becoming an orphan – at whatever age so, if these are issues you feel you would like some support with, please contact me.
I’ve worked with abuse – emotional, financial, historical, psychological, physical and sexual, anxiety, affairs, bereavement, bullying, depression, menopause, people pleasing, stuck-ness, work and/or health anxiety, separation & divorce to name but a few areas.
I can offer you a choice of how you access all my services, online, by phone or in person in WA7 ( or a mix of these, as required) and I offer flexible times between Monday and Thursday.
I also have qualifications in and experience working with NLP, EFT, Mindfulness and I am a Rewind Trauma Therapist.
All this training and experience means I hope to have the flexibility to tailor my service to you, as an individual, couple or young person, trainee, supervisee or organisation, to better meet your needs.
How much is it?
Sessions for Young People (young people also have a 30-minute option after their initial, one-hour assessment) this is £50 for an hour or £30 for the 30-minute session option.
Individuals and Couples are £70 per therapeutic hour (which means between 50 and 55 minutes).
Due to requests, I can now also offer you an extended session for adults / couples up to 85 minutes, the fee for this is £90 (to be booked in advance).
Email Therapy - It costs just £40 for you to email me and receive a personal reply. What is email counselling? Basically, we are counselling by email. Some find this a useful way of reflecting on their issues and it can be more convenient that trying to fit in a face to face or telephone appointment. It works well for most issues but addictions are probably one of the subjects it can be less useful for - more information on my website.
Single Session Therapy - the session lasts up to 100 minutes and focuses on just one issue and can include an action plan, the fee is £95.
Rewind Trauma Therapy - this is one or two full sessions and a check in - one session £70 or £150 for the full course - more information on my website www.1to1counselling.co.uk
Once we agree to work together, I have a payment at the time of booking policy – payment, has to be made in advance, to confirm each of our sessions, or the appointment may be released elsewhere.
Some reasons counselling might be useful: It can be difficult to make the decision to work on things that are bothering you, maybe it’s a niggle or a sense of being stuck or being in a rut - I'd like to assure you I have experience of working on issues from anxiety, affairs, bereavement, depression to low self-esteem, trauma and feeling stuck.
If you have a dilemma or a difficult decision to make, I won't tell you what to do but I will help you see all the options so you can make an informed choice. If you have had a recent loss – this isn’t always a death, but it’s an unwanted ending of some kind, I can help with this too.
Everyone is welcome & no problem is too small. Contact me - let's talk soon
I am happy to answer any queries you have via phone or email, no obligation

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
