About me

I tailor a bespoke approach to you, to ensure that you get what you need from therapy.  You may want to make more sense of your previous or current experiences, to better your relationships with others or with yourself, to improve your mood, or to find more peace and meaning in your life.

I draw from different tools and theories, including those from CBT,  Compassion Focused Therapy, Relational Therapy and Transactional Analysis.  I am also trained in specialist Rewind Trauma Therapy. I love what I do, and many clients tell me that they feel comfortable to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and also that they enjoy gaining a greater acceptance, understanding and mastery of themselves. I can help with abuse, anxiety, bereavement, depression, health related issues, loss, personal development, parental mental health, redundancy, relationships, self esteem, self harm, stress, work related issues.

I am energised by nature, healthy living and connection with others. As well as being a therapist I am a mother, a wife, a sister and a friend.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I held various senior roles in big businesses , so I know and understand the pressures of working in the corporate world.

I offer face to face, online, telephone or outdoor therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction).  This is accredited by the BACP.  I have undergone subsequent training in Compassion Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and am trained in the Rewind Technique for working with Trauma. This technique has been shown to be highly effective in helping people move on from traumatic incidents.  I am an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist.  I hold an additional qualification in working with Children and Young People.  I am passionate about lifelong learning and development and am continuously enhancing my knowledge and skills through formal and informal CPD.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Please contact me via phone, email or instagram. We can then arrange to have a free 15 minute telephone consultation to decide whether I am the therapist you are looking for, and ensure that I can work with what you are bringing to therapy.  Then you can decide how you want to progress from there - in person, walk and talk, or online/telephone.  I will then confirm the details of the first appointment to you via email and look forward to our first session together.
