About me
I am a licenced UK counsellor with experience in relationship issues both with families and intimate relationships. I have additional training and experience in bereavement as I volunteer at my local hospice. Alongside this I work with childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, divorce, and many other circumstances we find ourselves in. I am also proud to be an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. I work in a person-centred way which means I will not pressure you to complete tasks you do not want to do but I will listen, prompt you and support you to make your own decisions and find your own path. You have made the hardest decision and that is to find a therapist. I will do my part in gently challenging you to delve a little deeper to get to your goals.
I am relaxed and informal in my approach I want you to feel comfortable and safe to discuss whatever is on your mind with no judgement only compassion, empathy and understanding.
Before training as a counsellor I was a teacher for 15 years which has given me a wealth of experience in human nature. I enjoy walking my three dogs, painting and attempt to crochet when I have some spare time.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with BACP and passed my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. In order to provide the best possible support, I continue to seek professional development through reading and further training.
My most recent training enabled me to work with teenagers who had suffered a bereavement. I also use these skills to support St Michaels Hospice as one of their bereavement counsellors.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
