About me

I am a qualified, integrative counsellor working with individuals and couples aged 18 and over, both face to face and online.

How counselling can help

Counselling is a collaborative process that offers a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's a place where you can be yourself, without fear of judgement, and find the support you need to navigate life's challenges.

My approach

It can be very daunting deciding to talk to somebody for the first time. I see it as my job to create a warm and supportive environment so that you feel comfortable to be able to share your problems or anxieties. It may be that you have experienced loss, are suffering from anxiety or depression, need to process difficult or traumatic past events, or are simply feeling stuck. I am there to listen, empathise and help you gain a deeper understanding and self-awareness.

Working integratively simply means that I can use a variety of counselling theories or approaches in our work together, ensuring that it isn't a one size fits all approach, but that it works best for you.

Issues that I can help with for individuals include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low self esteem
  • Anger
  • Difficult childhood
  • Past traumatic experiences
  • Relationship issues
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Work or career related issues
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • A sense of being stuck

Issues that I can help with for couples include:

  • Communication difficulties
  • Infidelity
  • Separation
  • Intimacy
  • Trust
  • Understanding each other
  • Blended families
  • Conflict resolution

Professional Membership

I am a registered member with the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework.

First Steps

During our first meeting, we'll usually discuss your concerns, what has brought you to counselling, and any goals you might want to achieve.

This initial appointment provides an opportunity for you to get to know me and ask any questions you may have. It also allows me to get an understanding of why you are coming to therapy and the support that you need.

Importantly, its a chance for you to explore whether you feel comfortable and safe opening up about your thoughts and feelings with me.

Ongoing Counselling

If you decide to continue with counselling after our initial appointment, we'll work together to establish a schedule for your ongoing sessions.

Therapy can be short or long term and you may decide to end therapy at any time.

Please do get in touch and I'll be happy to offer a free 15 minute telephone call to see whether you feel you would like to go ahead.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, as mentioned above and I have experience working both face to face and online.

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling. This course was accredited by the BACP.

I have a level 5 Post Qualification Certificate in Relational Counselling with Relate.

I have completed the Counselling Tutor, Online and Telephone Counselling Course as well as the BACP Online Primer Training Course Certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
