About me

I follow a holistic approach, and have gained comprehensive experience through working with people of different backgrounds.

I am a MNCPS Registered Accredited Counsellor working in North London. I have extensive expertise in helping clients to address their problems effectively, including anxiety and depression, peri-menopause and menopause relationship problems, low self-esteem, shame, bereavement and LGBT-related issues. Whatever personal concerns you face, I will assist you in a safe and confidential environment.

I currently work as a Wellbeing Counsellor for a leading Healthcare Affiliate Company, I also work in Practice Private and recently trained in Peri menopause and Menopausal Health. Over the years, my experiences include working as a counsellor for a children's charity, adolescent counsellor,  counselling lecturer as well as a bereavement counsellor. I have significant experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds.

My practice philosophy is mainly person-centred. I believe this to be highly effective as it enables clients to develop and exercise their own independence and decision-making. Depending on circumstances, I will integrate person-centred therapy with behavioural therapy, and with solution focused therapy where appropriate.

"How counselling can help"

At your first appointment I will encourage you to talk about your feelings and emotions. I will listen and support you without judging or criticising. As your counsellor I will help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, enabling you to find your own solutions to the problems or issues you are facing.

"What to expect in your first session"

My aim is to make you feel comfortable and safe from the outset.

Assessment

We will start by looking at the background to the troubles you are experiencing. I will ask you to complete a form, which will give us a picture of how you are feeling and help me understand how I can best support you: ‘tell me your story’. I want you to feel you have the opportunity to tell me about the issues that are concerning you.

Practical Details and Confidentiality

We will discuss the number and frequency of sessions you may need and how any fees will be paid. As your counsellor I will explain how I will protect your confidentiality and privacy. Together we will go through the terms and agreement of our counselling contract.

Trust and Rapport

During the first session, or at any time during your therapy, you can ask me anything you want to know about my qualifications and experience and also clarify anything that you may not understand. To get the best out of the process it is important that you have confidence in me.

I strive to provide the highest standards of support to all my clients.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
