About me
I’m Veronica. I am a qualified integrative, relationships counsellor based in Edinburgh. From a place of kindness, compassion, and reassurance I’m pleased to be able to offer virtual and in-person sessions where you will be supported to talk and explore issues of importance to you.
I am trained to work with both individual clients and couples. I currently work as a Couple's counsellor with Relationship Scotland. When working with couples we can look at a wide range of issues within your relationship. This can include your communication style and patterns; how you reach compromise and how you deal with conflict. We can also explore your attachment styles.
When working with individual clients I can provide support with a a range of mental health concerns including anxiety and depression. This does not define you and our work together focuses on what matters most to you to help facilitate change and growth.
I offer walk and talk sessions from my home which is in close proximity to woodlands. This can offer a mindfulness based approach to our work together.
I am trauma informed. Through my work within the domestic abuse sector, I have experience working with those who have experienced trauma relating to their domestic abuse and coercive control. I also have experience working with survivors of sexual violence through my work with Rape Crisis.
I understand that taking the first step takes courage. Talking about your issues and offering a space to be listened to can be hugely healing and transformative.
I work therapeutically in order for you to be heard and supported. I am able to offer both short and long-term counselling in line with your individual needs.
At the heart of the counselling process is the relationship between the counsellor and client. I can offer:
· A space to be heard.
· A space to feel safe.
· A space to build trust.
· A space to create and learn something new about yourself.
· A space to acquire growth.
· A space to be who you are.
It is important for you to set the pace for your own therapeutic change. We can work together in an integrative way using different approaches as outlined below to best suit your individual needs.
Psychodynamic – Examining your past to understand how this relates to your present thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour.
Attachment – Understanding your early relationships and how these have and continue to influence your present relationships with self and others.
Person-centred – Focusing care on the needs of you as an individual.
Emotional-focused – Understanding that your emotions can be used to guide a healthy, meaningful life.
I look forward to our first contact whether online, via text or by phone where I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
