About me

Hello and welcome to my profile. Thank you for taking the time to read through the information provided for you below which I hope will help you choose a good therapist for yourself.

Are you feeling stressed, depressed, anxious or lost?

At times we experience painful feelings, suffer from often crippling anxiety and occasionally behave in ways that cause difficulties in our lives. I know from many years of experience that people bravely tend to soldier on hoping things will improve or as often suggested by well meaning friends and family, they should be able to 'pull themselves together'.

Reaching out is a brave thing to do and well done for getting this far. It would be my job to put you at ease and provide a calm, safe space for you to feel confident to talk about your difficulties.

You most probably have a good idea as to what kind of therapist you would like to have and I imagine it would be someone who is experienced and confident in their work, someone who listens to your problems, is supportive, believes in your ability to heal, cheers you on and celebrates success with you. Someone who has your best interest at heart, who can identify your strengths and help you achieve your goals for the future. I believe I am that therapist.

My work experience

I have been a therapist for 20 years mainly working for the NHS. I have recently retired from the NHS where I provided specialist counselling, leadership and supervision to a team of counsellors.

If you suffer from anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, trauma, relationship / unresolved childhood issues, performance anxiety, eating disorders, phobias and OCD or your suffered a loss you  may be interested in the latest cutting edge neurobiologically informed treatment approaches  that I use. EMDR anf IFS offer a new way of understanding on how the mind works and can bring about profound changes sometimes in a short period of time.

I am a registered and accredited member of the UK Council & Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adhere to their ethical framework. I am a fully trained and accredited Eye Movement Desensitisation (EMDR) practitioner with EMDR Europe Association.  I am also a fully accredited Practitioner with IPT UK and a facilitator and trainer for CBT groups for anxiety and depression and i am an IFS ( Internal Family Systems Therapist ) therapist.

My training as an Interpersonal Psychotherapist enables me to work with people who have relationship difficulties.  Once I have a clear understanding what the difficulties are, and if necessary I will invite the partner to attend various session in the hope to provide a  safe and respectful way to resolve their issues and conflicts.

What to expect?

My approach is gentle and is primarily geared towards strengthening the healthy well functioning core part of those of you.

I am an integrative therapist and therapy sessions with me involve exploring current difficulties with the aim to improve your quality of life in the here and now. Some times it is important to also look at past experiences to see how they may be linked with current difficulties.

I strongly believe we all have the capacity to overcome life’s difficulties and my therapy style is interactive, engaging and focused without lengthy silences.

You will be able to see me for a length of time that suits you. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, others prefer longer term support.  In our early meetings we will discuss your treatment and I hope that I will be able to help you decide what type of therapy might be best for you.

New therapies that may be able to help when others have failed.

I have particular interested in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprossessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems Therapy  and Sensory Motor Psychotherapy which are emerging modalities at the cutting edge of psychotherapy.
