Toni Morrison Kent and Gravesend counselling service
- Important service update
We are all going through difficult times and if you have been affected by COVID-19 I am still here as a counsellor to support you.
- Online, Skype/WhatsApp and telephone counsellor
As a counsellor I can support you remotely whether you are in the Kent area or further afield. I am currently working online only, which is in accordance with government guidlines.
- I use Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp video call and telephone sessions for individual and couples counselling, as well as Mindfulness and Wellbeing. Whether you are a new or existing client, online counselling can help you through the challenges you are facing.
My role as a counsellor is to be someone neutral, who will listen to you without preconceptions and will not be influenced by anything outside of what you bring to the sessions. You are able to choose what you reveal, and when, and can dictate the pace at which we go.
The kind of issues clients bring covers a wide range. Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues of any description are often reasons to come to counselling. You may feel sad, have feelings of low self esteem or lack of self confidence. Perhaps you are struggling with feelings of anger, shame, or loneliness. You may have experienced loss; perhaps for a person, job, place or role in life. Counselling offers a way understand and come to terms with these bereavements. You may simply feel overwhelmed by your emotions and the pressures of life. Alternatively you may find it difficult to experience or express any feelings at all.
Counselling can also help you explore wider issues, such as finding your place in the world, deciding which path to take in life and give you support while you go through a time of difficult change. It can be used to help you understand and accept questions that may have arisen in your life around areas of sexuality, your cultural experience, or spirituality.
I will listen to you without judgement and with respect for your feelings and your experiences.
I am a BACP registered Counsellor. As a member of BACP I have pledged to adhere to their code of ethics and practice. I have regular counselling supervision with an experienced Supervisor and Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I am committed to regular training and to my own personal development, and it is important to me to be continually deepening my own understanding of myself and others. I hold full public liability insurance.
My practice is based in Gravesend and set in a quiet serviced office block in the centre of town.
I offer a comfortable environment that is safe, quiet and calm. In our sessions together you will find me to be an open, thoughtful, and reflective person who strives to work with compassion, empathy and humour. I’m genuinely interested in what you have to say, and understand how hard it is to find that person you feel you can trust.
My training is in Humanistic Person Centred Approach to counselling and I work in a Relational Way. This means that I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is the key to healing and that everyone is unique, so I work in a way that suits you and will adapt to your needs
I have a wide experience working with people of varied sexualities, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. I have particular experience and understanding of living with the effects of emotional and mental problems; anxiety/depression/bereavements/identity and the stresses that effect our physical being.
One to One Counselling & Psychotherapy
Emotional Wellbeing practices
I understand that it can take a lot of courage to take the first step into counselling. To ask for, and to be willing to receive help from another person can take a lot of courage and it is important for you to feel comfortable with your counsellor. With this in mind I offer a 'no-obligation' Consultation session with no expectation to continue. The Consultation session is an assessment session and is therefore somewhat different to a usual counselling session. It is an opportunity for you to find out if counselling with me is right for you. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you want to achieve and any questions or concerns you may have.
You can also call and we can arrange to have an informal telephone conversation first.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked in schools and community projects for many years. Provided social and mental healthcare and adaptive projects and workshops in both employed and private sector.
I have and am experienced in working a way that incorporates and integrates many theories and styles of therapy including, Mindfulness practices and Relaxation techniques.
