About me

Hi and welcome. I am Syl, a liberation counsellor and coach. Your comfort, psychological safety and preferences are my priority, so I bring in a wide range of approaches centred around your safety, choices and empowerment to help you heal and thrive.

---

Hello. Welcome, and thank you for considering my support. My name is Sylwia (also known as Syl), and I am an experienced liberation practitioner offering integrated counselling and coaching for a wide range of life challenges.

Our life experiences, our social positioning and our current experience of the world can sometimes feel challenging. That's where counselling and coaching can help. Starting counselling or coaching can feel new at first, so my role is to create a calm space for you to feel comfortable, respected, and empowered to be your authentic self.

Liberation work means that I bring in a wide range of psychological approaches centred around your safety, choices and empowerment. Your comfort, psychological safety and preferences are my priority.

I am a qualified integrated counsellor and coach experienced in supporting people with the following challenges:

  • relationship difficulties,
  • self-esteem,
  • low mood,
  • anxiety,
  • depression,
  • bereavement,
  • eco-anxiety,
  • workplace and activist burnout,
  • digital wellbeing challenges,
  • technophobia,
  • online abuse,
  • sexual abuse,
  • addictions,
  • stigma, social exclusion and social isolation,
  • identity-based violence and other forms of oppression or discrimination.

I am a certified anti-oppressive practitioner. Whether this is your first experience with this type of support or the next step on your healing journey, I will privilege your preferences. As an inclusive practitioner, I respect all aspects of your identity.

Thank you for reading and taking this first step to seek support for your mental health and wellbeing.

Practice description
As a liberation practitioner, I am trained in many approaches to offer you a way of working that empowers you and suits your needs.

In our sessions, we can explore and make meaning from your experience of the world through a safe, trusted, non-judgmental conversation.

We can create a calm, trusted space for your healing.

We can identify the roots of your challenges and find ways to move forward.

We can reflect on oppression and misuse of power in your life and identify safe and sustainable ways to resist it.

Together, we can identify opportunities for healing - some can be practical, and others may require deeper psychological exploration.

Finally, we can also explore liberation towards a healthier, happier life.

Additionally, I also specialise in counselling and coaching for digital wellbeing. I am a certified Virtual Reality counsellor and a founder of a digital wellbeing startup, Voxel Hub. I combine the experience of teaching, business, charity work, digital activism and youth projects to offer you an affirming view of good mental health in the digital age. I support people struggling with:

  • negative tech bias,
  • technophobia,
  • digital fatigue and digital burnout,
  • online abuse,
  • geek discrimination,
  • addictive online behaviours.

I work with leaders, professionals, parents and mental health practitioners wishing to embrace digital age opportunities safely.

Like all ethical practitioners, I have been in ongoing personal therapy for many years and have an experienced supervisor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
