About me

Are you feeling sad, angry, confused, overwhelmed, anxious or just not as happy as you would like you feel? Then I can help you to understand your feelings and to gain clarity so you can move forward in your life.

Hi. I'm Stephanie and I am a Person-Centred Experiential Counsellor and Psychotherapist awarded a first class honours degree in this area.

I have years of experience working with a diverse range of issues and difficulties; providing emotional support to both adults and young people. I have successfully supported many individuals in third sector organisations, charities, schools, colleges, university and GP practices and am currently employed as a Mental Health Practitioner for an international organisation alongside running my private practice.

Positive feedback from my clients has endorsed my ability and competence in supporting others with their mental health.

I currently work in person from a dedicated therapeutic space at home and digitally (via online video or telephone). Digital therapy has proven to be a popular, workable way to connect for many people and is a convenient, accessible choice particularly those who have trouble with travel, feel isolated, or live in remote areas.

I always work professionally and authentically. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere fully to their Ethical Guidelines and Framework. I also have full, professional indemnity insurance and enhanced DBS clearance.

Working in a Person-Centred way is "non-directive" which means that you are in control of what you wish to explore and the process as a whole. I have a strong faith, supported by research and personal experience, that Person-Centred Therapy is effective in bringing about real change and personal growth within people. I feel passionately that everyone has the potential, with this support, to live their better life.

During our sessions, I provide a safe, relaxed, confidential space to explore your emotions, concerns, past or current experiences. I will support you in developing the confidence to make your own way forward in the direction you choose.

I respect each individual and what they bring to the sessions and realise that opening up to a stranger can be daunting. I feel in this respect; a key strength of my practice is my natural ability of allowing people to feel at ease in our space. Above all, I believe our therapeutic relationship is the key to growth, supported by my skills, experience and qualifications.

I encourage you to work at your own pace, whether you require short or long-term therapy and assure you that will receive my full warm, nurturing presence during each and every session.

Receiving professional support during difficult times allows us to show kindness to ourselves. We may discover things that have remained out of our awareness that can change how we think and feel now, and in the future. We don’t have to let the past dictate the future.

Please see my website www.flourishcounsellingtherapy.com for further information.

If you feel ready to take that first step, I really hope to meet you soon!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
