About me

It’s normal to go through challenging and difficult times in your life. Life can be complicated; but if you are stuck, overwhelmed and persistently dealing with the same issues, then this is when talking to a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist can help you to explore your inner thoughts and feelings to try and make sense of what is going on. As an integrative person centred psychotherapist, I have 12 years experience of working with adults, young people and children. By selecting the appropriate technique from different therapeutic approaches to best suit you; I offer a non-judgemental, safe and warm environment with the intention that you will gain insight, growth and healing.

I offer therapy sessions to individuals and groups, online and in person. I am available for a free 20 minute consultation, to talk about what you want from therapy and what I can offer you. If we both agree to work together, then we can decide the next step of booking in a session.

Fees: £50 - £90 per hour

Training, qualifications & experience

I am accredited with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) and work according to their ethical guidelines.

I have a wide range of experience of working with children, young people and adults from a variety of mental health issues. However my area of interest is people who have suffered with trauma, particularly developmental trauma. Childhood trauma is often described as adverse childhood experiences  (ACEs), which can arise from broken attachments, maltreatment, family violence and distressing experiences etc.  If the trauma is not processed properly, then the impact can be devastating, which can then affect our emotions, behaviours, attitudes, our beliefs, our body, our choices, our relationships, which then develop in a negative way into our adult lives.

I have a wealth of experience of working in educational settings and supporting a team around the child, particularly looked after and adopted children and their families. I also have experience of working with adults privately and in a mental health setting who have experienced many mental health issues and trauma.

Another of interest where I have a lot of experience and knowledge is working with children and adults with learning difficulties, particularly autism. Autism just means that "your brain works differently from other people" (NHS, 2024). This sometimes mean that as an individual, you need extra support with understanding yourself and others in your environment. It is not uncommon for someone who has a learning disability to also have other diagnosis or difficulties in their life, such as ADHD, OCD, PTSD, trauma, depression, epilepsy, eating disorders, dyslexia and anxiety etc.

Peter Levine (Trauma specialist, 2008) says "The bad news is that trauma is a fact of life. The good news is that so is RESILIENCE".
