About me

Hello I am Sophie, an open and warm Creative Psychotherapist and I am offering a therapy space free from judgement, to support you in finding clarity, comfort and coping skills. I aim to work with clients to connect them back in with their authenticity.

Arts based psychotherapy invites new insights and mindfulness, which helps us to regulate the nervous system while also inviting you to access and meet with different parts of yourself. Some parts may be hidden away with stories waiting to be told, while others are perhaps overworked or playing out roles only to please others.

Sometimes a protective or over-active and stressed cognitive mind is not the most useful place for us to seek solutions and peace from; therefore as well as talking together, it may be that working through metaphor proves more accessible and beneficial. Visualisations, meditations, music, movement, the use of images, art-making and other embodied practices may play a part in the therapy, but I will always be led by you. The relationship between us will remain the most important aspect, we will work together in only ways that you feel most comfortable.

Alongside Dramatherapy, other therapy models I draw upon include Compassion Focused Therapy, Inner-child work and Internal Family Systems; my practice is rooted in attachment theory and neuroscience. I am most experienced in working with adolescents and supporting with bereavement, however I offer therapy to adults, adolescents and children and have experience with all. My face-to-face practice takes place just outside of East London, I have availability there Fridays, Weds and Thurs AM and some weekend slots. If you choose to access support online, I can be more flexible.

*I have training and experience in offering online therapy and believe accessing support from your own space or home can be transformative.

Training, qualifications & experience

Clinical Experience

I have experience of working with a wide range of clients; delivering therapy in the NHS (CAMHS), women’s charities and a probation service. I continue to work as part of a bereavement charity and in secondary schools in East London, where I currently deliver therapy to both adult staff and students (aged 11-18). Most of my experience is one-to-one psychotherapy, however, I have also designed and facilitated dramatherapy group interventions in the charity sector and in the NHS.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
