About me

Hello I am an experienced and warm Creative Psychotherapist who works predominantly with those experiencing anxiety and/or self esteem difficulties.

I believe that therapy should be a space that prioritises your sense of safety above all, in the hope that you can catch your breath and make sense of your relationships, your experiences and develop new ways of coping for the future.

Creative Psychotherapy is a trauma-informed approach which invites mindfulness and new perspective, this helps to regulate the nervous system and from here we can explore different parts of ourselves. Some parts may be hidden away with stories waiting to be told, while others are perhaps overworked or playing out roles only to please others.

Talking is our biggest tool in therapy but there are sometimes better ways to build insight and connection, including through using imagery and working with metaphor - we aren't always able to access meaning through words, often it lives in the body or the subconscious mind so I may invite you to work with objects, on paper or through mindful visualisations. Having said that, the relationship remains the most important aspect of the work, and we will collaberate to discover what best serves your individual process.

Alongside Dramatherapy, other therapy models I draw upon include Transactional Analysis Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology, Compassion Focused Therapy, Inner-child work and Internal Family Systems; my practice is rooted in attachment theory. Alongside my private practice I work for the NHS based in acute adult inpatient care, where I am developing an Arts Psychotherapy pathway. I am always learning, diving into the latest research and developing my practice.

I am currently offering online sessions and have some in person availability coming up in Rye. I have training and experience in offering online therapy and believe accessing support from your own space or home can be transformative.

Training, qualifications & experience

Clinical Experience

I have experience of working with a wide range of clients; delivering therapy in the NHS (CAMHS and Adult Acute), women’s charities and a probation service. I have also worked part of a bereavement charity in multiple roles, and in secondary schools in East London, where I delivered therapy to both adult staff and students (aged 11-18). Most of my experience is one-to-one psychotherapy, however, I have also designed and facilitated dramatherapy group interventions in the charity sector and in the NHS.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
