About me

Hi, I am a relational, developmental integrative psychotherapist working with adults and young people.

I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. My approach focuses on establishing a caring therapeutic relationship and providing a safe environment for you to identify your needs and how best to fulfil them.

How therapy can help

At any time in our lives, we can encounter challenges, problems and issues we may find difficult to cope with. Finding our way can be lonely, frightening and deeply challenging. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, changes in behaviour, unfamiliar feelings, sensations and difficult emotions, in turn impacting your daily life and relationships. I take a holistic integrative approach, addressing all aspects of the self by drawing on enhanced training, complimentary theoretical models and lived experience to offer tailored therapy for each client.

Childhood relational and developmental experiences can have a significant impact on the way we relate to ourselves, others and how we approach life's difficulties in the here-and-now. Working collaboratively, I will provide support as you explore your past and current experiences, offering an empathic, compassionate, non-judgemental and genuine relational experience to help facilitate greater self-awareness, change, healing and growth. This enriched relational environment provides the space and opportunities for you to learn about yourself, what you need, to try new ways of being and embrace your true self.

What to expect

I offer a free, initial 30-minute telephone or online consultation. This provides an opportunity for you to discuss what brings you to therapy at this time, what you would like to achieve, to ask any questions you may have and see if I am the right "fit" for you. If you decide to proceed, I offer regular, weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes. Sessions can be in person, via telephone or online platform depending on your preference. I offer short or long-term therapy according to your needs, with regular reviews to ensure a collaborative experience.

Experience and specialisms

I have experience working with many areas of difficulty which may be impacting your life. These include trauma, relationship difficulties, addiction, self-harm, abuse, depression, anxiety, ill health, personality disorders and low self-esteem (please see full list). In addition, I have a particular interest and experience in bereavement work.

Death, grief and loss are part of everyday life, and can bring feelings of overwhelming sadness, guilt, regret, questioning our own existence and how we can possibly move forward while leaving our loved one behind. Many people find death and grief difficult to talk about, resulting in a sense of isolation at a time when we already feel lost. We may hear and feel societal messages of how grief should look, that we should be feeling better, be 'over it' and moving on,  that we are not grieving 'the right way'. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, it is a fluid, unique experience. I specialise in this area, including working with complicated grief and traumatic bereavement. I offer a space where you can freely talk about your loved one(s) as you need to, in your own time. This will allow you to process your feelings and integrate your grief, maintaining a continuing bond as you navigate your new world landscape.

I also work with clients with, or impacted by, life-limiting illness. The emotions experienced with knowledge of approaching death can be difficult to talk about. I can provide a safe space to reflect, explore your wishes and beliefs, and to help you make peace with the process of dying. Such reflection can in turn help you to deeper connections with your loved ones.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
