About me

After experiencing challenges in my life which led me to seek counselling therapy, I recognised the benefits and decided to train as a therapist.

I am an independent, integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor which means I use various theories to work with clients to help them understand why they may be feeling the way they do. We work together collaboratively to enable clients to explore their thoughts and feelings and find their way forward.

Sometimes it can be hard to know why we are struggling, counselling provides a safe, confidential space to talk freely without any judgement.

I have 20 years of experience working in the NHS as a children’s nurse, many of these years supporting children and young people with their mental health and safeguarding.

I also have extensive experience supporting new parents following childbirth and understand the emotional rollercoaster this life change can bring.

I work with both adults and young people (11+) and work face-to-face from a room in my home, online or outdoors for walk-and-talk therapy. The relationship between therapist and client is important. The benefit of engaging with private therapy is the opportunity to choose who you would like to work with. I offer an initial free 30-minute session to see if we would like to work together.

If you decide you would like to go ahead with therapy we can then decide a time and day for our sessions to take place.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
