About me

- I truly believe that you have done your best to cope and survive so far and the evidence is - you are here.

About me and what can I offer to you

Hi,

My name is Sanna and I am BACP Registered Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor.

I offer online and face to face counselling for individuals and young people in a safe, confidential, quiet and calm environment.

I truly understand how difficult it is to cope with life challenges. I do not want you to feel that you are alone with your worries and distress.

I will help you to find the answers that you need and are looking for to achieve a life that is more satisfying. I believe that counselling can help release your burdens, unlock your potential and restore hope for a balanced future. I believe in the possibility for change and healing in a therapeutic relationship, because I have witnessed it many times.

You may already know the reasons why you are looking for counselling support or...

You may have experienced something that has left you feeling like you are struggling to cope. You may have "a sense that something is missing and something does not feel right, maybe you have lost your confidence and have low self-esteem, you feel anxious, depressed and you worry all the time" Or, does life just feel overwhelmingly uncomfortable, complicated and even messy? You may have trouble with relationships. Maybe you feel that everyone relies on you but no-one thinks about what you may need? You just want things to be somehow different, but not sure how. Do you feel burdened by pain and struggles that just do not seem to pass, and not know how to change things for the better so that you do feel happier?

Sitting with this on your own can worsen how you feel especially if you are unable to share your issues with friends and family or maybe they just do not seem to understand you and opening up has left you feeling judged or even to feel that you are burden on others.

I believe, not knowing is a good place to start and any change can feel very scary. I will help you to unpack and understand the emotional package that can feel so heavy on you.

I believe from my experience that investing in you may be the best decision you will ever make. Many clients have told me that through the counselling process, they have got to know themselves and understand all their parts better and gained more confidence to trust their own strengths and abilities to make their own choices. Clients often realise that "There is nothing wrong with me... I feel like this, because what has happened to me!" I believe when your relationship improves with yourself, the rest will start to follow.

What counselling will be like with me?

I will respond to you with compassion accompanied with full respect, warmth, kindness, empathy and acceptance. I promise that you will meet an authentic me, and my attitude to you is one of total acceptance of you now - not simply what you may desire and might become.

My full focus is always you and your total wellbeing and I want to support you to achieve the outcome that you deserve. As our relationship develops and you feel comfortable and at ease with me, I believe that exploring and expressing yourself freely with me, will be a powerful way to move beyond hurt. I will welcome you to share whatever is creating pain, discomfort or suffering for you - no matter how dark your thoughts and feelings may be.

We will work at your pace and in a way that suits you, and work with issues that you want to focus on. Facing difficult emotions can be very scary, especially if we do not understand where they come from, what they try to tell us and how to manage them.

Together we will make sense of and understand how your life experiences and beliefs may have influenced how you feel about yourself and your life. Together, we will figure out helpful ways to manage and tolerate discomfort, navigate relationships and ease your pain.

I work from my heart and I have been described as "a gentle soul". I have not met you yet and already I admire your courage to seek counselling help. Maybe I can be the person who you decide to invite in to your life to help you to connect the dots together to live the life that you deserve.

When you feel ready to take the first step towards feeling better and more in control of your life, I welcome you to contact me either by phone, text, or email so we can schedule our first session and give you hope to start feeling better. If you wish, I offer free phone consultation (approx 20min) to give you a chance to make an informed decision about whether I may be the right person to support you.

Many of my clients have experienced mental health issues, anxiety, abuse, depression, low mood, anxiety, bereavement, stress, low self-esteem, low confidence, anger, self-harm, work-related issues, feelings of being stuck, worthlessness, trauma, shame, issues with relationships or any overwhelming life experiences.

I work with deep understanding of historical and current trauma. I understand how trauma affects many of us, and often in unexpected ways.

For a couple of years I have volunteered as a counsellor with survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and sexual abuse. Counselling has truly helped clients to rebuild their lives and restored hope for a better and safer future.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
