About me

You plus me equals change!

I am a highly experienced BACP accredited integrative psychotherapist, life coach and qualified supervisor, training EMDR therapist. I have been practicing for over 15 years within private, public, and voluntary sector, having extensive experience working with individuals, couples, children, and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds, in childhood and complex trauma, abuse, domestic violence, mental health, relationship issues, sexual identity, anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, addictions, family dynamics, bereavement and loss.

My practice has shown me there’s no single approach that can facilitate all clients in all situations; my primary approach is from a Person-centred and CBT perspective, whereby the client is supported to move closer towards their organismic self.

Do you feel alone, anxious, experiencing depression? Are you struggling and don't see how you can change feelings, behaviour, or thoughts? Difficulty processing historic issues or adjusting to new situations? I offer a safe, trusting, confidential environment to explore your concerns and worries. Therapy begins by booking your first session - why not contact me today?

The decision to seek therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it is a new experience. Counselling can facilitate new understanding of self, different relationships, and your place in the world. Making that first step is often a difficult yet brave decision to make. I am spiritually lead, warm, friendly, approachable, here to help by adapting to your needs and creating a unique style for each client. I provide a space where you feel safe, respected, and valued so that difficulties can be explored, without judgement. I understand the many challenges that we face as we navigate through life experiences. Together we can reassess hopes and fears and work towards the difference you'd like to make. Let’s get you to the place that you truly deserve!

We'll work together to understand how life conditioning may influence choices, decision-making. Such awareness enables you to become more conscious of your personal power in changing things that can influence and accepting what you cannot change.

My work is varied but has become very adaptable to the global life changes we are experiencing. I offer long and short term one to one, face to face, online and telephone therapy to individuals and couples. Single session counselling is also another option, whereby after the initial consultation you may decide that one focus-driven session to harness your strengths and acknowledge your personal goals and inner resources is all you need.

I offer a complimentary 15-minute telephone consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an Accredited member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (MBACP) psychotherapist, my training started in 2005 at certificate level in Person-centred approach, I continued to complete a NCFE Diploma in Integrative Counselling with extensive training to blend different therapeutic approaches such as person-centred, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, existential and solution-focused therapy, qualifying in 2006. I went on to do my Master and achieve a post graduate diploma in Psychodynamic counselling at Goldsmith London University.

I maintain and see the benefits of regular supervision with experienced supervisors to ensure I'm always working professionally and in a healthy way. This motivated me to study and train as a supervisor, qualifying in 2014, I attained a diploma in counselling supervision working with individuals and groups.

I have 25 years’ experience working within further and higher education sector fulfilling various roles; school counsellor, safeguarding lead and mental health coordinator, teaching assistant. I recognise the importance of support needed to nurture a balanced mental state and dislike seeing people crushed by life events or system’s particularly the educational system. I have facilitated psycho-educational programmes to aid young people, parents and teachers to understand themselves and stigma surrounding mental health.

For the past thirteen years, I’ve been a therapist at 'One in Four' a charitable organisation that provides specialised counselling support for survivors of sexual violence, sexual abuse, particularly survivors of childhood abuse and trauma. I have done extensive training in trauma (including sexual trauma) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

I keep a fresh approach to my work to ensure I remain informed and skilled by undertaking regular ongoing professional development opportunities (via workshops and training courses etc). I always work within the latest ethical frameworks of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

I have full professional indemnity insurance and checked by the DBS barring service.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
