About me

Hello, my name is Sam, I am a person-centred counsellor with a wide range of experience working with adults and young people aged 11-18 years.

I am offering face to face and remote counselling, many clients benefit from telephone or video call counselling, just as much as from face-to-face counselling; you can have your session in the comfort of your own home, or in any space that you feel offers you privacy and ability to speak freely without interruptions.  I also  have availability for face-to-face counselling , so if you feel that you would prefer face to face counselling, please do let me know.

Your first steps into counselling can feel a little overwhelming and this is a completely natural feeling to have, I have listed below briefly what to expect.

Step One - when enquiring about my service, please don’t feel defeated when your call is answered by an answer phone, this is put in place so you don’t feel like you are put on the spot and have to make conversation.  I will ask you to leave me a message with your first name and telephone number, I then will get back to you within 24 hours.
( you can also email me )

Step Two - I will contact you within 24 hours for a brief chat, in this chat you can feel free to ask any questions about what is expected from the counselling service I offer, and it gives you an opportunity to share what you as a client expect from me.

Step Three - booking in and your session.  I will offer you a 50-minute time slot for your session, a time that suits you.  This time is a safe and confidential place to explore whatever you feel you want to bring to your session.

It’s important to remember these are your sessions, you are in control of what you want to talk about and share, I can offer you a safe and confidential therapeutic environment for you to do this.

This therapeutic relationship is important to help you move forward, please be aware that it may take you a few attempts when looking for a counsellor, to find someone who you feel you can connect with.

Good luck with your journey,

Sam

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
