About me

I have an extensive background in body positive personal training, and 3 years' experience as a health and wellbeing coach in the NHS. My special interest as a person-centred counsellor is working with people who have a difficult relationship with their bodies or their physical appearance. This can be due to painful life experiences including bullying, societal pressure, physical or mental abuse. The chronic low self-esteem, low self-worth and feelings of anxiety and depression can lead to life-long difficulties with disordered eating, exercising behaviours, self-harm and a deep emotional unrest.

This can all make life and everyday tasks difficult and lonely. It would be a privilege to support you on your journey towards peace and self-acceptance.

You have already made the first huge step to finding a healthier relationship with you, by recognising that you may need or want some help and are actively seeking it out.

How can I help?

Person-centred counselling is rooted in the belief that you are your own expert and can lead the way on your therapeutic journey. I will endeavour to provide a safe environment in which you can begin to explore and perhaps take off the masks you have learnt to wear and get to know and accept the real you at the core of your being. When you experience my unconditional acceptance of you, with or without your masks, my belief is that you will learn to let go of your own internalised judgement and show yourself the compassion you might ordinarily show to others.

You will heal and grow from the inside out.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Whilst my special interest is related to body image and disordered eating behaviours, I am not limited to working with just these issues so please don't feel I can't or won't support you if your difficulties lie elsewhere.

I currently offer sessions online and I understand that this doesn't suit everyone, so I offer a free 30 minute 'getting to know you' session so you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you and if an online session offers you what you need for therapy.
