About me

*Remote/Online sessions are offered nationwide*

Throughout life, we can experience changes or moments where it becomes difficult to cope. This can result in feeling stuck and not knowing how to process our thoughts, feelings and experiences.  For some, these feelings may have existed for as long as they have known. What can make this more difficult is knowing who or how to open up to others or feeling like what you're experiencing is too much for someone to understand. Having a therapist allows you to share all parts of you, parts that are accepted wholeheartedly without shame or judgement, which may not feel possible even with those you feel closest to.

I can assure you, not one part of you is too much and you deserve a space that feels safe, where you can be heard and wholly understood. Often, when we have not experienced this to the extent where we are not judged or minimised, it can be freeing and transformational. Taking the first step to reach out takes courage and it is natural to feel anxieties and uncertainties around this. I have worked with many clients who at the beginning, may have also felt similar anxieties and uncertainties about beginning therapy.

The most important part of therapy is you. As a qualified integrative therapist, I believe your experiences are your greatest authority. They have only been lived and experienced by you. For this reason, as a therapist, I do not offer any advice on how your life should be lived. Instead, I aim to help uncover and explore and challenge your processes, thoughts and feelings which in turn can lead to self-awareness and growth. Therapy can often be challenging and requires hard work in and out of the sessions. As your therapist, I am here to support you through all of the challenges and difficulties that may arise.

I aim to provide a safe, welcoming non-judgemental space that gives room to all parts of your identity and being, parts which may have been hidden so deeply from yourself. It is in this way that we learn about ourselves and our processes.

There is also no one size fits all in therapy. What may work for one client, may not necessarily work for you. This is why it is important I provide an integrative approach to ensure your needs are catered for.

In our first session, I will aim to understand your needs, goals and expectations of therapy and try to meet these to ensure you receive sessions which will benefit you in the best possible manner. I am committed to providing you with a safe and welcoming space and I aim to walk with you through the journey of empowerment and self-discovery counselling can bring about.

I believe therapy to be highly relational. Through my practice and supported by research, I have found that the relationship held between therapist and client to be one of the largest indicators of successful therapy. The connection held can be unexplainable but deeply important to those who experience it, as it stems from a place of being provided with the core conditions needed for us to process, learn and grow as people.

I value the privilege of fostering and experiencing these relationships with my clients, recognising that through these interaction I am able to learn, process and grow alongside them.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
