About me
I am a professional counsellor, offering confidential counselling to individual adults. I work with clients from many diverse walks of life, cultures, genders and sexual orientations from a sex-positive and gender-affirming standpoint. I am committed to working in an inclusive way that both accounts for and values diversity.
Before training in counselling, I was a Lecturer in Music for many years (University of Edinburgh) and have found my experience in Music to have a great deal of relevance to counselling, as much of music making is about listening and about finding resonance with other people, becoming attuned to them.
I have often found therapy to be genuinely transformative. My aim is to create a safe, accepting, non-judgemental and confidential space for you. Here, we can work co-operatively to explore and create meaning from what it is you wish to bring to therapy. Through this dialogue, we can begin to recognise new, emerging possibilities and the potential for genuine change.
Therapy, for me, is something we do together in the present—a partnership—something for which we have a shared responsibility.
I work relationally, with an emphasis on attunement, acceptance and empathy. I am sex-positive and gender-affirming.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Counselling in Transactional Analysis awarded by Physis Scotland, a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD).
Personal development is very important to me and is something I prioritise. I have a very wide range of academic qualifications in a disparate range of disciplines (Music, Film, Law, Science, Informatics, Biotechnology, Botany, Horticulture), and regularly undertake CPD.
