About me

I offer group therapy on Saturday mornings from 10am until 12 noon in the south London , SE11 area looking to build self support through group interaction, releasing shame and understanding embedded family patterns of relating and gently challenging through experimentation.

I also offer weekly, individual humanistic / Gestalt online (zoom) video sessions lasting 50 minutes, to support people experiencing personal issues in a range of different areas such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders and attachment issues, low self-esteem, developmental trauma.

I also specialise in supporting / young adults with additional / complex needs including those on the autistic spectrum and people who simply want to expand their awareness and self-development.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualified as a Gestalt practitioner,  I work with clients to raise awareness of cues from the body and mind to make sense of personal, often protective, and defensive patterns in relationship to others and the world that have formed. When you build awareness of your personal responses and where they come from, it becomes possible to look at other potential responses that may serve your happiness better.

I can support you to practise recognising, speaking and acting from your authentic self through experimentation and explore your unique strengths which every person has but are often unaware of or minimised.

The therapeutic relationship in Gestalt is important and the building of trust in a space where you feel safe to be curious about what happens for you in each present moment. The therapy space acts as a microcosm which reflects how you relate to the outside world and this can be explored. By raising your self-awareness through contact and experimentation and building capacity for vulnerability and openness, you naturally become enabled to make more conscious decisions and feel gradually more confident about handling emotions.

Although Gestalt is my primary mode of working, I also incorporate elements of internal family systems modality (working with younger internal parts) and family constellations; looking at unresolved generational family patterns and how your unique qualities can support your wider family system.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
