Would you like to be able to relate to people better? Counselling is about change.
Hi, my name is Nicola and I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering private counselling in the centre of Cheltenham, having been qualified since 2014.
You may have reached here as you are feeling like you are struggling with a personal difficulty, and would like some help to get change this. You might also be feeling quite nervous about the thought of counselling, and what to expect, as it can feel daunting to start talking about ourselves and our problems with a stranger.
How Can I Help?
People come to counselling for many reasons and at different times of their life.
It may be that you have a relationship issue or family issue you want to work through, or perhaps you haven't been feeling right for some time and wonder if counselling may be able to help with this.
Maybe you want to find a way to relate to your partner better? Or perhaps you struggle with friendships or feeling lonely, and would like to change this? Relating to people can be difficult for many people, for many reasons. By contacting me, we can discuss how relationships are for you, and what you would like to be different.
Bereavement and mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression have a huge impact on us, and ability to maintain relationships with friends, family and partners. I have worked with many people' struggling with these experiences, and would be happy to work with you.
I have several years experience of working with relationship issues including family, partner and friendship problems, as well as stress, anxiety, depression and bereavement, and would be able to help you navigate and find some way forward with these problems. Having worked in a variety of settings, including counselling young people, providing telephone counselling to large organisations and running my private practice, I have over 900 hours counselling experience of working with a variety of difficulties.
If you would like to find out more about whether I would be able to help you, please feel free to email me to ask. If you'd prefer, I am able to offer a ten minute telephone conversation for any queries or questions you have.
About Me - Integrative Approach
I will work together with you to make sure that your experience is as comfortable as possible, and to ensure that you feel safe to explore the topics that you would like. During our first appointment, we will explore what has brought you to counselling, and gives you the chance to meet me and check out if you feel comfortable with me and wish to continue working together.
It is common with people who come to counselling to feel that they are experiencing a range of problems, instead of fitting into one neat label. I have been trained in an Integrative Counselling Approach, which means I draw on a variety of different theories and psychological backgrounds in my work. Working with an integrative model of counselling, I am able to listen to your individual story, and be flexible to the range of issues you may be having and how we work with these. My Integrative training has included CBT, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and Gestalt approaches.
My approach is mainly based on us talking through whatever it is you would like to focus on, although sometimes we may try some creative methods which can help to view things from a different perspective. However, this will be up to you to work in whatever way you feel comfortable.
Who can I work with?
I provide counselling to adults, children and young people, and people with additional needs in a safe and confidential setting in the centre of Cheltenham. Alongside my private practice, I also work for a charity providing counselling to young people, and for a healthcare provider, providing counselling to employees of large organisations. This diversity in my clients has meant that I have built up experience with a range of different issues.
