Nicola Pallas, Trauma, Anxiety and Child Specialist.

White House Road
Tyne And Wear
Hi there, and welcome.
It can be very daunting and overwhelming when it comes to accessing counselling for the first time and I would like to reassure you that I am here to help and support you with those overwhelming feelings.
It can be so easy to get caught up in everyday life that self care is often forgotten about. We live in a world with so much expectation that children can also experience the same amount of stress as adults, if not more due to the added pressures from social media and social groups.
Often we live in hope that things will sort themselves out eventually, and that change will somehow happen on its own. However, things still seem to remain the same.
Investing in yourself, through the support of counselling, may be the next step for you or your child to help regain balance in your life and to make the changes you have been wanting to make for some time now. I believe that everyone is capable of change if they are committed and willing to do so.
My specialist areas include:
• Working with Trauma, such as abuse, to reduce the impact of overwhelming feelings that are left behind after a traumatic event.
• Working with Children and Young People,
• Managing Anxiety, which may manifest as panic attacks and other forms of behavioural changes.
• Improving Self-esteem and Confidence.
• Developing Resilience and improving relationships and interactions with those around you.
A good counsellor is more than just someone who is there to listen. I work in a none judgemental, emapthic way with our relationship being the main focus. It is very important to build a trusted relationship to ensure you feel at ease and safe within the counselling environment and for change to happen naturally.
I work in a way that is at your pace, for you to explore your thoughts and feelings that are troubling you. We will also work with different techniques, activities and processes, where necessary, to help you or your child gain knowledge and awareness of ‘self', to help gain autonomy and to ensure change. I am committed to helping you reach your potential and live a fuller and happier life.
Training, qualifications & experience
During my training as a Counsellor in 2013, I volunteered with Samaritans where I supported vulnerable people via telephone, email and face to face drop inns. I also volunteered for the charity Barnardos where I supported families who were victims of domestic abuse, through a programme named Circles2. I also began my counselling placement with Barnardos around this time where I worked with children and their families across a number of different schools and at Orchard Mosaic. Once qualified, I began working for Barnardos and worked here for 3 years. My role included working with children, adults, young people and families and I also worked as a counselling supervisor.
Alongside my private practice, I am also based in a school setting, working with children, young people and their families and i also work with children in foster care and who are approaching adoption.
Another area of my work includes volunteering as a supervisor. Working with trainee counsellors on placement.

Over the last 5 years, I have seen, and experienced, the frustration from different people around the lack of immediate help in the community, when it comes to mental health. Therefore it is my aim to provide a service which enables flexibility and limited, or zero, waiting lists to children, adults, young people and families. I am a strong believer in early intervention to help prevent the point of crisis.
If you feel I am the right person to help you on your counselling journey, then please feel free to send me an email or give me a call and we can have a chat about setting up an initial meeting where we can discuss what you hope to gain from your counselling sessions.
Please feel reassured that there are no commitments after our first point of contact and that you are in control at all times.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch. If I am unable to answer the phone, please leave a message with your name and number and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to have a look through my profile and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Take care and good luck with what ever path you choose to take on your counselling journey.
