About me

Finding the right counsellor can be daunting but you have taken your first step towards finding solutions and discovering a new pathway.

I offer a counselling service which includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Humanistic Therapies.  During our sessions you will be encouraged, supported and met with empathy and kindness. I will listen to you and endeavour to understand your feelings which we will explore together at your pace. This will be your safe place to work through any issues you may have in a secure and trusting environment. I have experience in working with Anxiety disorders, Depression, Addictions and Bereavement in addition to many other emotional health issues.

If you feel uncomfortable making that first telephone call then please feel free to text or email me. I'm happy to respond to your initial enquiry by telephone, text or email - whichever you would prefer.

The important thing is to take that next step.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Certificate of Proficiency - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am fully insured and an accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. Being a member of this professional organisation means you can be assured that I work within the guidelines of the Ethical Framework. I also attend regular clinical supervision and undergo continuous professional development.

My experience includes working with Young Offenders at Southend Borough Council.

I have also worked for a charity that provides shelter for homeless persons who have addiction issues with drugs and/or alcohol.

I also have experience of being a Bereavement Counsellor at Farleigh Hospice.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
