About me

Welcome, my name is Nicola and I offer a counselling and psychotherapy service over the phone, online via Zoom and in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

As you've taken the time to visit my profile you may be struggling in some aspect in your life. You may want to see a therapist for all sorts of different reasons such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty with relationships, feeling under pressure or just not feeling yourself.

I offer one to one counselling and psychotherapy to teenagers, young people aged 12 plus and adults. I provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space in which to explore what matters to you. I believe that everybody has the ability to change and by working through any issues you bring I can support you through this transition and help you achieve your goals.

I understand that the idea of coming into therapy can seem daunting, whether this is your first experience of a therapeutic relationship or not. I'll give you the space and freedom to explore any concerns you have in an empathic and non-judgemental environment.

I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client forms an essential part of the therapeutic journey. It's therefore important that you choose the right therapist for you.

I'm a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and a Registered Member of UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) and EATA (European Association of Transactional Analysis) and I follow their ethical codes and practices.

I'm fully insured and I receive regular supervision.

If you'd like to book your free consultation or if you have any further questions then please don't hesitate to contact me on 07954 417 473, email me or send me a message via the contact page on my website.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis in Psychotherapy and I have also carried out further training in Sandplay, Working with Dreams, Self-Harm and Depression. I offer both long and short term work and my experience includes working with the following:

  • Anxiety

  • Anger Management
  • Relationship and Family Issues
  • Obsessive Compulsive Behaviours
  • Stress
  • Low self esteem
  • Managing exam stress and expectations from teachers, friends or family

The above list includes just some examples of areas I work with. Please feel free to contact me regarding any issue and we can discuss whether I'm the right therapist for you. If not, I'll be able to recommend other local counsellors or therapists who may be better suited to your needs.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
