About me

Welcome. My name is Nicola and I offer a counselling and psychotherapy service, currently online and over the phone.

I have a diploma in Transactional Analysis in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Practitioner Skills in Eating Disorders and I work with adults and young people. I am very passionate about working with young people, working largely with adolescents aged 14-25.

I have noticed over time that an over-whelming number of my clients were struggling with their relationship with food and body image. This has only been exaggerated since COVID as people have turned at times to eating more than usual with less opportunity to be active, or other changes in eating behaviours. So many aspects of people’s lives have felt out of control lately and food can be a common way to attempt to rectify this.

I have extensive training in working with people’s relationship with food, which includes supporting those with eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and night eating disorder, amongst others. I also work with loved ones of those struggling with an eating disorder as I understand that watching a loved one suffer can be tremendously exhausting, frustrating and traumatising.

I also offer coaching for those who would like to explore their eating patterns or to manage their obesity which involves supporting you to make lifestyle changes as well as promoting healthful behaviours. I am extremely passionate about my work supporting clients with their relationship with food and addressing issues such as body image, self-esteem, self-harm, motivation and assertiveness skills.

I also offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults for reasons such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty with relationships, feeling under pressure, loss, bereavement or just not feeling yourself.

I am a fully trained couples counsellor and I can work with couples to explore any difficulties in the relationship and support you as you work to repair it.

I provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space in which to explore what matters to you. I believe that everybody has the ability to change and by working through any issues you bring I can support you through this transition and help you achieve your goals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
