About me
Do you feel like life is getting on top of you? Is your mood getting in the way of the life you want to lead? Perhaps you are struggling with mental health difficulties or to deal with events that has occurred in your life and your usual ways of coping just aren't working as well as they used to? As a clinical psychologist I have specialist experience in working with a range of life difficulties and mental health diagnoses to support you to make changes in-line with the life that you want to lead.
I have extensive experience working in a number of NHS and Private Health Provider settings. I will work alongside you to help you understand the difficulties that you are having and address these in a way that fits with you as an individual. I have knowledge that is proven to help and, along with your expertise on your experiences, my aim is that together we will find a way of understanding the challenges you are facing and tailor what we do to you.
How I work
I work with a number of evidence-based models and will keep you informed every step of the way about ideas for what might be helpful and how we might implement these. Seeking therapy can be scary, as often is the case when we are trying something new where we might feel vulnerable. It can also be highly rewarding, producing positive change. My commitment is to be alongside you, providing a safe, confidential space that is non-judgemental.
I offer a free 15 minute initial phone or video consultation to help you decide whether you would like to go ahead and book an initial appointment. Appointments are 55 minutes and the first one will begin with spending time gaining an in-depth understanding of what you would like support with and recommendations for a treatment plan. Weekly sessions have been shown to be most effective but we can discuss the frequency that best suits you.

Experience
I have 20 years experience working in the mental health field in various settings across the age range and 10 years specifically working as a clinical psychologist with children, teenagers and adults. I currently work in the NHS as well as in private practice. I work in an integrative way drawing on my training and experience of using a range of evidence based models to fit the treatment plan and approach to you as an individual, and to your specific needs. The models that I use most frequently are CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
