About me
If you find yourself feeling anxious or depressed, therapy can help you examine your beliefs, how you feel and how you think. You might be struggling with anxious sensations you just can’t shift or find yourself worrying so much that it is interfering with your life. Perhaps you find yourself struggling in social situations, fearing the judgement of others, or feel consumed by intrusive, difficult thoughts. Using evidence based interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness, relaxation techniques and Compassion Focussed Therapy, we can work together to understand the effects of your past, examine the thoughts, emotions and behaviours that affect your present, and create the foundations upon which you can build a future in which you can thrive.
We can examine, with compassion, how you perceive yourself, others, the world around you and your future. Together, we can create a safe space to gain a shared understanding of the emotional impact of your experiences, the physical effects of stress and anxiety and how all of this influences how we try to cope and keep ourselves safe.
CBT and EMDR aren't ‘one size fits all’ approaches; they are active therapies, which will empower you to make the positive changes you want to make, at a pace with which you feel comfortable. It is all about working together towards your goals and enhancing self-awareness to overcome a wide range of difficulties. I work with young people and adults and I am experienced in adapting my practice to meet the needs of neurodiverse people, with or without diagnosis.
I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR clinician based in the heart of Manchester city centre. I offer online sessions and face to face support from my office in Ancoats, which is accessible by public transport and free, off road, parking is available.
If you would like to book in a free consultation, to see if you think we would be a good fit, please don't hesitate to email me to arrange a chat. Please email me, in the first instance, as I can struggle to be available to answer calls during the working day.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am qualified to Masters level with an MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the University of Salford. My dissertation centered around research of the efficacy of CBT in response to identity disturbance in adolescence. The manifestation of complex trauma remains an area of particular interest for me.
I am experienced in working with a range of mental health difficulties, including: Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Health Anxiety, Panic, Perfectionism, Depression and Low Self-Esteem.
I am an EMDR clinician with extensive experience working with PTSD and anxiety.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision from the University of Manchester and have experience of supervising trainee CBT therapists alongside providing supervision for teaching and support staff in 6th Form Colleges.
I am highly experienced in working therapeutically with young people, young professionals, adults and first responders. Prior to my career as a therapist, I had 15 years' experience in a demanding career and utilise my experience of having worked in high pressured roles to support a range of professionals in both corporate and public sector settings. With a background in education, I continue to support professionals in complex safeguarding settings and have a wide range of experience delivering bespoke training packages.
I have experience working in the charity sector and public sector alongside schools and private organisations, working with young people, young professionals and adults.
