About me

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem? Are you having difficulties in your relationships?

I understand how difficult it is to pick up the phone or send a message asking for help, but if you decide to do so I will aim to put you at ease. I will listen with empathy, gaining understanding about who you are and your experiences. We will work together through your challenges setting a pace that is right for you.

I understand that talking about your problems and emotions may be a new experience for you. I will aim to make sure you feel safe and build trust in the therapy. The sessions are your chance to feel heard and understood and to help you make meaning of your experiences. This will hopefully assist you in moving forward in a way that feels authentic for you.

As a psychotherapist I will talk to you about your history, the here and now and your future plans and goals. This helps me to understand you and your world view. We will explore links to events that happened in the past and how they may be impacting your life today. We will also look at patterns of behaviour to help you have a better understanding of your inner world and how to heal from old wounds. Understanding yourself is  incredibly empowering and allows you to take back control of your life and move forward with confidence and self-esteem.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified to BSc (Hons) level and am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP).

I have experience working with a diverse range of clients, including clients from the LGBTQIA+ community and clients who are neurodiverse.  My experience includes working with anxiety, relationship difficulties, childhood adversity, trauma and bereavement. We explore these issues together, bringing awareness and understanding and also building your confidence and self-esteem allowing you to feel empowered moving forward in life.

I have a deep knowledge of childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences such as abuse, trauma and abandonment and understand the wide range of enduring impacts these experiences bring. I can help you unpack and understand how you have been affected and together we can work through the difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours you are experiencing and you can begin to heal.

You may feel like these experiences will always have a hold over your life. Our work together will allow for exploration, looking at different perspectives, and bringing you back into control over your life, and allowing you to make decisions that feel right for you going forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
