About me

I am an experienced and qualified humanistic counsellor who is passionate about supporting you to explore what brings you to therapy.  Are you feeling trapped by your anxiety, struggling with relationship issues or overwhelmed with grief? I can help you navigate these feelings, work towards finding your sense of self again and rediscover the purpose and clarity you may have lost.

I have a private practice in Lewes and experience working with a varied client base, with a special interest in supporting cancer patients and their families. I provide a safe, calm space and offer a range of support with issues including:

Anxiety, depression, bereavement, ill health, relationships, trauma, abuse, work-related issues, stress, eating disorders, addiction and loss.

I practice in a person-centred way which means I believe through exploration and support, you have the ability to make the positive changes you need and with a humanistic approach, I will work with every part of you as a unique individual, helping you to reach your full potential.

How can counselling help?

Benefits include greater self-awareness, improved self-esteem, greater self-acceptance and a sense of empowerment. By gaining a deeper understanding of thoughts, feelings and emotions, you can improve relationships, communicate more effectively and build more meaningful connections. It can also help to overcome or work through challenges and gain greater control over which path to follow and how to achieve your goals.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an FdSc in Person Centred Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP.

I am fully insured and enhanced DBS checked.

I am qualified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can be useful in helping you to accept life experiences as they happen and build a more compassionate relationship with difficult and challenging experiences.

Additional training I have attended includes Transactional Analysis (TA101), trauma, suicide, anxiety, complex grief and gambling addiction.

I attend monthly clinical supervision and continue to broaden my experiences with regular continuing professional development.

Alongside my private practice, I work for the NHS at Sussex Cancer Centre supporting cancer patients and their families and have a special interest in working with this client group.

I am a counsellor at Sussex MS Centre, working with clients affected by multiple sclerosis and also work in a low cost counselling service with an interest is supporting those bereaved by suicide.

I have previous experience of working as a bereavement counsellor at a local hospice supporting individuals both connected to the hospice and also those bereaved in the wider community.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
